Ok grassman75 and Charlie Bucket I found a few moments to generate your round 1 random teams. I think you’ll be quite happy with them:

Grassman75:
Duryea x
Bont 14
Darcy x
Macrae 38
JJ 28
Total score 80

Charlie B:
Scott x
Jones L x
Keath x
JJ 28
Treloar 24
Total 52

It looks like the Median score was 47.5 and the average a bit under 46 so you’ve both done well (much better than RandomDog!) Lucky buggers.

I’ll confirm full Rd 1 results in a couple of days.

Followed closely by Rd 2 results.
I might have to forget again this week....let's just call it champions advantage, you know like how the good players can get spun 720 in a tackle and it's never holding the ball 🤣

PIEMAN RESULTS ROUND 1 V MELBOURNE

OK the last 24 hours has been fairly gruelling. And the media dissection is only just starting. Here's a bit of Pieman fun so we can all lighten up a bit.

Entries
We have 46 entries for 2023, which is very close to last year's 48. That's a pretty good effort. Thanks everyone for joining.

And if anybody else wants to join they are still welcome. I'll give you a random team for Rounds 1 & 2. You can still join after round 3 but you won't get random teams for round 3 and beyond, only for those first two rounds.

Several people said they wanted to be in but forgot to put entries in for Round 1. I've generated random teams for them - grassman75, Charlie Bucket, lateniter and StringyDog.

Round 1 seems like ages ago now. Can you believe we actually had nine different goalkickers against one of the premiership favourites? Despite the nine, nobody picked up a Chump (all 5 kicking goals) so it was a bit of a scrap for the points.

The KELVIN

The first Kelvin of the year went to cecil (91) who did actually get 5 goalkickers but they included a double helping of Oskar Baker, so no bonus points. Congrats also to Bulldog rick (86) who came in a close second in his Pieman debut. Kermit was only one point back on 85.

All of the randomly generated teams hit the scoreboard, with grassman75 (80) doing best. Charlie Bucket got 52, lateniter 46 and StringyDog 26. RandomDog is jealous of those four - he only got 19. RD was the only one who needed Pieman subs in Rd 1 and probably just as well - he got his only points from them (Naughton and Jamarra).

The dependable ScragCity was the only one to register a doughnut (but just wait until you see the Round 2 results! :'()

The mean score was 45.43 and the Median was 46.5. Of the 46 entries 29 were attempted chumps (5x1s).

Naturally, the Round 1 Kelvin scores are also the progressive Pieman totals for the season.

Pieman Player of the Week (and Year)

With nine players each registering one goal Macrae is a straight-up PPotW because he had the highest handicap value.

More significantly however he became the Pieman sub for Round 2 ... which was unfortunate for a few who perhaps forgot to select a team and thus rolled over their teams from Round 1, replete with their Lobbs, Hannans and Treloars.

Round 2 results will be posted soon.

PIEMAN RESULTS Round 2 v St Kilda

Sheesh! When you have only five goals for the match and only four different goalkickers even The Pieman struggles to bring some light relief.
Here we go, anyway ...

The KELVIN

No chance of a Chump happening this week because there were only four players able to kick a goal. It ended up being a tie between Dogs_R_Us and TedDougChris (68) with cecil (64) rolling his successful Rd 1 team over to come in third.

Three others made it into the 50s and four made it into the 40s. After that it was carnage. There were 12 doughnuts and 17 others got 16 points by virtue of having Naughton in their team.

There were 23 attempted chumps but of course none successful. The only ones to get even three different goalkickers were our joint Kelvin-winners.

The mean score was 22.02 and the median was 16, surely the lowest in Pieman living memory.

There were six rollover teams this week (cecil, _Mike, Mofra, Palace03, SayerTheCreator, ScragCity) and four of those needed subs because they had Lobb, Treloar or JJ in them. Sadly for them the sub was Macrae.

The PIEMAN

Here's the leaderboard after two rounds. cecil has a handy lead but it's early days and low scores so far. All of the top four are long time Pieman enthusiasts so it's nice to see them riding high. Then comes newcomer Bulldog rick and last year's winner TiAn_ as the only others to get to 100 points so far.

Pieman Player of the Week

A depressingly short list of candidates this week. Congrats to Garcia for being PPotW.
Best possible score was 131 if you had 3x Garcia and 2x English.

Pieman Player of the Year

Oskar Baker, for kicking a goal in each of the first two rounds, is the unlikely leader.
Aaron Naughton heads the club goalkicking with a paltry three goals.

Surely it can only get better from here?

Onward and goalward!

This is a genuinely depressing read after 2 rounds but thanks for your work

Tough this week - who will be our solitary goal kicker?

Can we make it about kicking points/missing the goals altogether - much wider field to choose from……
