I heard he wont play round 1 and may miss more, has had some serious injury concerns over the pre season. Im thinking he could miss the first 2 or 3 games.
I was thinking about him as he is full of class and a good price range. Also doubt his ability to be a keeper in 09.

He's a few for the affirmative side
- Fantastic numbers at U/16 and U/18 levels show him to be a natural ball winner
- Boak is in a much more crowded MF IMO
- Gibbs averaged 101 over last 9 rounds: not saying that this is what he will average! Just shows his potential though
- Gibbs will never get first tag with judd around (not saying boak will get tagged, im just saying!)
- Gibbs kick to handball ratio was 1:4 in 2007, and 1:3 in 2008, boaks was 0.8 and 1.0 (a significant difference)
- Boak has never posted big DT scores (highest 5 are 123, 106, 101, 100, 98), compared to gibbs (135, 130, 114, 114, 112)
- Boak a bit more injury prone? (not 100% certain though)
So what are your thoughts?

Gibbs has missed 1 game in the two years he has played, Boak has missed 14 games. Take from that what you will, but I like the idea of having my potential premium player with some proof that he is durable.

I can't be bothered going into details but IMO Boak will average more than Gibbs this season, the only thing is that I think Gibbs will play more matches. Overall I think Gibbs will score more season points.

Last year averaged 79.8 with no preseason and did not play his first game until round eight.
I would not be surprised to see him average 85+ or even 90 if he stays injury free.
I think if he played for Hawthorn or Geelong we would all be buzzing about him...

Here i was trying to get into a decent debate about gibbs v boak and the pros and cons to get people thinking about the players. Wish he hadnt been so stubborn...
A few points though:
Notice how hawthorn and geelong and west coast in their prime had high DT scorers - mitchell/hodge/franklin/, ABC/Chapman/SJ/Mackie, Judd/Cousins/Kerr in their glory years. Most of them mids too! If they come good, im sure gibbs will score well too, and have some top scorers (i say midfield - kinda relate them to WC a bit in their glory years - premier MF, ok backs, probably lacking a few goal kickers).
Oh, and about the team midfields - gibbs, murphy, judd seems pretty settle for me. None of them really play any other positions, their best in the middle? Makes sense to me! I think port with salopek, carr, cassissi, kane, chad, p burgoyne, boak, pearce rotating through is a bit more clustered. Just my opinion though.
Also good points on durability raised.
Dont get my wrong though, boak could be a beauty and average 100 if everything clicks and he gets alot of time on ball and all goes well. I just think gibbs is a safer option with probably a higher ceiling - thats me personally though!
