Things are hotting up. Judy Bryant has entered the building. Not to mention a bit of Chrissie Latham barely dressed scenes and lesbian showdowns. All this with Queen Bea forever plotting that she will "get someone" but never actually does.

I don't want the guys out there to get too excited but I recall going to see "Steaming" - play set in a London Bath House starring Amanda Muggleton (Chrissie Latham), Gwen Plumb, Genevieve Lemon (Marlene "Rabbit" Warren-yet to appear in Prisoner) and others who spent most of their time on stage Naked, well it was set in a bath house. Didn't do much for me but some guys had their coats over their laps.

I watched Prisoner when it first started for a couple of years, went off it for a few years more then back into it til stumps. Wait til Rita the Beater makes her appearance. Long way to go for that.

Yes, Prisoner has definitely hotted up lately. :thumbsu: After initially trying to act indifferent, Bea has really been reasserting her authority in the face of a few recalcitrant fellow prisoners.

Tony and Kevin have provided a few interesting storylines and Lizzie continues to give us a few chuckles. But Vera is still very much my favourite, although her character is obviously exaggerated and they've stopped showing anything of her personal life. Her fellow senior officer Meg has never been a very convincing prison guard in my eyes. She's just too good-natured and too friendly to the prisoners (and ex-prisoners).

Fletch seems to have his eye on a particular female. Whatever happened to his marriage? There seems to be another missing storyline there.

I'm finding the portrayal of predatory lesbian characters to be very fascinating. We need to remember that Prisoner was made back before the era of political correctness, and before homosexuals became the very protected species political correctness insists they be these days.

I usually watch Prisoner at lunchtime so I'm usually an episode behind most of you. But since it's been on 111 Hits, I'm yet to miss an episode. It's seriously good entertainment!

I don't think there's a storyline missing with that - Fletch and his wife are always arguing so if he's doing the dirty on her then it's no suprise, plus his nickname is 'Fletch the letch'

Fletch was making his move tonight and started to go for the kiss. There is something about that woman that seriously turns me off somehow.

Lizzy walking out of the fur shop with a fur coat on without paying cracked me up.

Can George Mallaby be the most wooden actor in Australian history. He could have phoned some of those performances in.

How does a stray dog get inside the Prison? Great Security this place. LOL

Alf is back telling the court that he slapped Meg around cos she liked that kind of thing. Ha ha the look on Megs face.

I have watched the show from episode 1 on 111hits earlier this year. Were already a year into the show and things just keep you waiting for the next episode 2 find out wat happens next. My fav charcters so far have been
1. Monica- her chioce of clothing was trendsetting plus her overacting would make angue monfries look bad.
2. Marlyn - wonder how her and eddie are goin running monnies milkbar in brighton
3 dooreen- not the brighest tool in the shed
4 joyce- so dodgy (jill)
5 alfie my all time fav scene when he belted up that bloke for lookin at him
6 lizzy - without her the show would be shocking , shes always upto somthing

Still dont know why flecth the letch put on 5,000 for a chick. When hes mrs's is a stunner. My fav charcter atm is the old bird who runs the halfway house atm she always seems to be working. And thank hevans they painted the wall in the hallway looked like sum 1 had a dump on the wall. I wish mr reed starts with his pipe again that looked funny as. All in all im pumped knowing ive got another 4 years of watchin this show 5 nites a week.

Ray Meagher (Alf) played a lot of bad guys back in the day for a variety movies and tv shows. One of those actors you'd think "Oh that's the guy from so and so".

LOL on the stray dog. Cute woofer though.

I'm almost a month behind the current episodes but i marked out when Judy Bryant showed up in the episode i watched tonight.

I only saw about 18 months of the show when it was shown late night in the mid to late 90's and that period coincided with Judy Bryant's arrival so it'll be good to relive some old memories of episodes i've actually seen before.

On another note, the show desperately needed some new characters with Lizzy and Doreen currently on the outside and Pat O'Connell disappearing, which left them with only Bea, Chrissy and Ros as the true characters inside the jail.

The whole Geoff Butler ending was a real anti-climax. I agree about the gun sound, maybe they couldn't afford to buy the sound effect.

The house Fletch lives in seems strangely upper market for a guy who drives a Datsun. I liked that porno moustache on the Detective.

Lizzy was making me laugh with all her mispronunciations of religious talk. I bet ol sheila was enjoying that.

Yeah, the anomalies continue to be hilarious. I've counted three different screws who all wear glasses over the last few months. Geoff was armed and dangerous and a decorated former soldier and he was taken on by regular cops and detectives!

And oh my God, is Judy Bryant going to be converted to religion?!  A sure sign of the times. There's no way the all-powerful Pink lobby would stand for that idea being on television these days.

And the new painter chickie Kerry Vincent looks an intriguing new character. Welcome to Wentworth. Meet Vera Bennett. :D

Don't fret, all will unfold. Having watched the show in the beginning except for a break of a year or so, without spilling the beans tooooo much, Bryant is around for quite some time.

did you see that painting that Kerry Vincent had at the Exihibition it had fletch in it. Fletch has been on leave since she arrived so I am not sure how she would know what he looks like. Crap painting anyway.

Jock Stewart is also the Goggo mobile man ....not the Dart.

Wasn't Ian Smith [A.K.A Harold Bishop] in Prisoner for awhile as a screw ?
I know he was a writer for the show.

He was the first department head Ted Douglas.

After Ted left that post, Ian had a couple of cameo appearances (including in the very last episode).

Haven't watched much of it on 111 Hits as I have all the eps on DVD and had started a run of the series before 111 Hits announced they were bringing it back (up to episode 504 in my current run). I won't spoil it for those watching it for the first time though, but you guys are in for some fantastic story lines over the next couple of months - 1981/82 (episodes 166-328) are often regarded as the shows high point (reflected in the bulk of the shows Logies being won at that time).

Absolutely love the show - in addition to the DVD I also attended both the 30th anniversary celebrations in 2009 where I had the privilege of meeting many of the cast of the show. Also won a competition shortly after that where I won a 20 minute phone call from Amanda Muggleton (Chrissie Latham - and Amanda is just as flamboyant as Chrissie :D)

Awesome. :D Thanks for your input. :)

I met Val Lehman many, many years ago. A very nice lady. But a phone call from Chrissie/Amanda that would be pretty cool. :thumbsu:

The thing that amazes me with Ian Smith is that he is so thin in Prisoner and then I seen him in Underbelly: The Golden Mile recently and he was sooo fat.
