Same thing happened to me. House is 40+ years old so I guess you have to expect the pipes are going to go at some stage. I don't understand plumbing at all but you'd think when you have access under the house they could set it up in a way where you don't have to rip the house to pieces to get to the pipes. Plumber reckoned it wasn't even that bad compared to other places where they set the pipes in concrete, like why.

Some dodgy work gets done .

Work does play a big part. If you hate it, it's terrible and you can feel stuck. Most people have had jobs like that before. You should at least be able to enjoy your time at home though. Having something planned to look forward to is always nice too. Doesn't have to be expensive or fancy. Can just be catching up with some friends rather than a big holiday or something.

And it doesn't have a purpose. Something like 120 billion people have been on this planet. Nearly all didn't have some big purpose or far-reaching goal they achieved. But you can mean something to the people in your close circle and have an influence that way.

I absolutely love my job and it makes a huge difference to my mental health being back doing what I love.

Interesting how many people love their work.

I guess alot just suck it up because they got a big loan and kids etc.

I worked as a labourer for a few years got into IT which I hated. Got long service leave and studied horticulture which was what at the age of 30 I was really interested in. Took a few years of f casual jobs but got a gig at my current workplace and it’s a brilliant job.

I hated my last job by the end of it. The National Manager was a ****ing useless campaigner, she was a bully, she created a toxic environment and was is the closest I have been to hating a person.

I work at a school now in a front office and absolutely love it. Work is fantastic, the leadership team are brilliant and I do not see myself leaving any time soon.

This. I landed quite unexpectedly in the position I'm in now, and it's the most satisfying and rewarding job I've ever had. It's still a novelty to drive to work and not spend the entire commute fantasising about some kind of natural disaster occurring simply so I don't have to clock in.

I think it comes with age too that you learn life is less about impressing and pleasing people who don't matter in the long run. We only get one go, so treat people the way you want to be treated and prioritise your mental well-being.

Some people get over their heads in terms of big house, big cars, big everything.

In the end you can't put a price on being happy.

Amazing the things people will do to feel accepted by family, friends and society even if it makes them miserable.

I'm glad I went through some rough years in my early 20's because I found out no one gives a shit about you so you need to live the life you want to live and the money you earn is to be spent.

For me it's never been the actually job that's been bad, it depends on the people you work with.

Had a warehouse job 15 odd years ago and I hated the manager, He went away the last week I worked there and suddenly the work wasn't so bad with him not being there.

Good point. I never mind the work in and of itself. I'd be happy shovelling shit, as long as the people I'm working alongside treat me with respect. And if you happen to have a laugh along the way, all the better.

Ive worked at my current place of employment 11 years and the previous 10

I followed my manager from the last to the one I’m in now

You can’t underestimate a good Manager

My angst now is more about exhaustion - retirement is just around the corner and I’m ready. The bank balance isn’t

I quite like my job, I've done way worse things for money, but if I won Tattslotto I'm walking away straight away of course.

The people you work with are the key, I'm in a small team and get along really well with the majority. Even the ones I don't personally like, well you still need to form a relationship with them, I'm in sales so I kind of need everyone's help at some point. Works way better when you're friends with them though or close to it.
