I hear all this crap about who are the big 5 clubs of the AFL sprouted constantly by flogs of the highest order (hawthorn supporters mainly) but here is a list of names that the AFL actually care about. As we all know the game has become about money revenue for the AFL and the main way they get this revenue is through Tv rights true? Well you'd think "the big 5" would all be the highest tv audience wouldn't you? INCORRECT. Here is a list that shows you the AFL's 'big 5' most important teams.

#1 Collingwood Magpies
#2 Geelong Cats
#3 St Kilda
#4 Carlton Blues
#5 Western Bulldogs

Now for all those flogs that say the dogs shouldn't be getting payment from the AFL read it and weep as we are the 5th most important side in the competition and get paid accordingly.

Read it and weep the dogs are a vital cog in keeping the AFL stable.

poor club with a poor history, poor supporterbase, poor results and not within a million miles of a second Flag.

LOL you gotta feel sorry for the NRL. The afl would have ratings twice as good as them but we have people that actually go to the
F&^%$#* games!!!!. Im sure if we capped our crowds at 13,000 like they get every week then we would have another 40,000 per game watching it on tv.

#1 Collingwood Magpies - Prelim
#2 Geelong Cats - Grand Final
#3 St Kilda - Grand Final
#4 Carlton Blues - Elimination
#5 Western Bulldogs - Prelim

I wonder how you'd go without the finals matches to bump up your figures?

Did you even browse over the article? Or is that chip on your shoulder driving today?

"Furthermore, the figures only applied to regular-season games."

I spose we'd need someone with some time on a boring work Friday to go back and see how many games each of these clubs get on F2A coverage and on which days.

Not being biased but Collingwood and Carlton would be up there either way, without being sure on the stats I'm sure if Hawthorn, Richmond & Essendon played more games on 7 Fri nights and 10 Sat nights that could boost there audience. I don't know why anyone would put themselves through too many St. Kilda games, could drive a man to insanity with that boring rubbish..

How can Fotscray NOT be popular, with a high class suburb from which to draw such a well-heeled supporter base.

For once I agree with a carlton supporter. It would be nice to see how many FTA games each club got. I know for a fact we get more than our fair share of sunday games televised on foxtel each year.

Your seriously putting geelong, st kilda and western bulldogs as the big 5. That's a epic fail if i ever seen one. BTW western bulldogs wont make the 8 next year, this will be there last year of making it to the prelim.

Cheers:thumbsu:
