I think marks during the game are something opposition supporters can appreciate down the track. A lot of Bomber supporters were cheering Andrew Walker's mark over Carlisle for example and Jezza's mark half way through the 1970 GF is probably an experience for all if the crowd.

Not sure that the Harmes boundary tap in the 1979 GF impresses any Pies fan in hindsight though.
Not so sure. If we won 2010, Goddards mark and then goal would have been up there in the top 3-5 all time Grand Final marks, and it would be remembered forever. But we lost, so it wont.
Anyway, since 09/10, I was burnt out and dont care anywhere near as much anymore, so can relax and watch the footy. Much better,

This is so true for me...Riewoldt kicking the toe poke to beat us in the prelim absolutley destroyed me, my sister had GF tickets literally sitting there waiting to give me.

I Hated him and the saints so hard for not much other reason... up until this year and I have a newfound respect and admiration for him. Now the saints are a team id like to see win a flag.

Can't say we've been on the receiving end of too much history or iconic moments....well except for the game that Melbourne came back from 50 points down to beat us by a goal.......actually scrap that, I'm still scarred from that game :(

We were on the receiving end of the biggest Grand Final margin in history.

It set the club back 5 years, and it's hard to move on after all the constant reminders we get. But...nobody was getting close to Geelong that day. Even if you tried to assemble the All-Australian team to try and take them down then you'd have to replace the 9 players they had in

Fine with Leo Barry. Difficult to get over, but my parents were patient Bloods so it was an intensely bittersweet experience (plus seeing a local team which I grew up watching every week win the flag). Losing the 2006 QF at home with that Mickey O celebration was brutal, but the flag 3 weeks later put that and the remaining 2005 demons to bed in beautifully poetic closure to that period.

I have also tended to see the 2007 Semi-Final as a reprieve from a likely embarrassment the following week, and the surrounding misery of the 2007 off-season means the on-field straight sets memory (when straight sets was still rare) tends to get dwarfed a bit. Plus we had just won a flag. Missing finals in 2014 I quickly moved on from as well, after watching Port leap out of the blocks against Richmond (and the sheer novelty of Priddis winning the Brownlow not long after).

What still irks me is those 90s away finals which should have been home finals. Whilst I am long resigned to the Bombers inflicting something despairing to us periodically every few years, losing to Carlton in that 1999 SF was especially loathsome, and ultimately was a sad goodbye to that great side. 1996 was also a winnable flag.

That said, as an aging West Coast fan who has experienced success, and also has the perennial Swans as a 2nd team, I've been fortunate, and tend to be circumspect and relaxed nowadays. I moved on from 2015 enormously quickly. 2011 is the last time I didn't have a team I greatly liked in the decider, so recent GFs have generally been excitable affairs, and even a blowout like 2014 was a case of an awe-inspiring performance.

I was sitting in the pocket when Ablett decided to sit on Pert's head. I was upset at the time, yelling something about how the great man hadn't controlled the ball for long enough. Afterwards I watched the replay on television and just felt happy that I'd witness the artistry.

Of course 2005 in retrospect isn't as bad after 2006. If we'd lost two close ones in a row I don't know how I'd feel. I guess like St. Kilda fans...gosh just one flag in 120
years, by 1 point, 1 win from 6 GFs. To think they could easily still have never tasted grans final glory boggles me...

1998. Rd 22 - Melb vs Richmond. Richmond HAVE to win to make the finals. In fact, if we win, we finish 5th, with a chance of 4th.

It's Melbourne's 150th(or something) celebration!! So there are one million cars carrying everyone from Ron Barassi to the Boot Studder to Ivor Warne-Smith's ashes being carried around the MCG before the game. 'The Grand Old Flag' gets about 100 airings from 12 o'clock on.

Eventually - the game starts. Melbourne kick the first goal after about 20 secs. In the next minute Jeff Farmer stands on Scotty Turner and Gary Lyon to take the best mark I've seen live. (You've all seen it on a million replays. Definitely a Top-10). The ENTIRE ground stands up to applaud.

For Richmond fans, the game goes downhill even further after that (what's wrong with finishing 9th, anyway?:(:(:mad::p:p).

But looking back, it was probably a pretty good day to be a Demon fan......................................

Have heard a few people who only saw it on TV say it wasn't that great. One of those marks that TV didn't do justice.

It's weird but I'm glad I got to experience the Malceski winner in the 2012 GF.

Don't get me wrong it was a horrendous experience and I hope to never go through it again but yeah, it's an experience.

This.. the feeling of watching that sail through to the back drop of what felt like a dead silent crowd was one of the weirdest experiences I've ever felt at the footy..... It felt like an eternity watching it sail through and just hoping it wouldn't.... when I realised it had, I knew it was over... incredible set of emotions that only football can bring.
It made me bloody appreciate what came in the not so distant future!
