So the strong rumours are that Mourinho is sick of life in Madrid and is looking to return to the Premier League next season. Thoughts on where he would go?

I'd love to have him back at Chelsea, but I just can't see it happening. He was always believed to be Fergie's successor at United but I think the old tosser has at least one more season in him (along with the fact I think they hate each other). Only other real options would be Arsenal, Tottenham or Man City as I see it. Liverpool will no doubt stick with Kenny. But Wenger has been linked with a swap of managers with Madrid, 'Arry has been linked with the soon to be vacant England job but if Man City win the title they couldn't possibly sack Mancini could they?!

Mourinho really isn't the right fit for Arsenal or Tottenham. Both very attacking teams. Although he may be the one to combine a solid defence with the already available ability to attack.

There is also the possibility he could take the England job.

So what is everyones tip if it was to happen come seasons end? I really think he could do wonders at Arsenal if he could keep their attack but implement his usual solid defence.

I'd say Arsenal, but their recent fall from grace and reluctance to spend (withholding Wenger's shambles of a last day in August with Park, Mertesacker, Arteta, Gervinho) will rule them out. No way RA will have him back at Chelsea, knowing he made the mistake he'll stick to his guns this time. I still want Redknapp at Spurs but it will depend on what happens this week, JM could be tempted and has always spoken especially complementary of us for whatever reason while City should keep City in theory, but we know that's not how it always works.

We arent close enough at present, although we do have money. Maybe the challenge of restoring us to our former glory would appeal to his ego, but that's about the only chance we have

dont think he'll leave madrid by his own free will until saf leaves, unless of course madrid are sick of him (which they are rumoured to possibly be). he does have that clause in his contract where he can leave for man united, while any other club would have to pay out millions for his contract.

if we hire that ex barca guy (cant remember his name, solsomething) there's no chance mourinho comes to us.

If City dont win the league he could end up replacing Mancini.

He would not fit at Arsenal with the current squad. Half the team would need to be replaced.

Half the team does need to be replaced though!

He has always admired LFC and the challenge to take us back to the top of English football would appeal to his ego. Plus we have money, I think we could be a possible destination. With the King at the helm though, not sure it's an option.

Surprised that Anzhi isn't at shorter odds.

Honestly could see City winning the title and still sacking Mancini for Mourinho.

Would be a harsh but good move, you don't pass on one of the best managers in the world.

I could definitely see that happening but I think Mourinho would love the Man U job at some stage and taking the Man City job I feel would rule out any chance of taking the top job at Man U in the future.

Could Mourinho take on the England job until the next world cup and strike a deal with United to take over from Sir Alex after he has finished his England contract.

Otherwise I would take him at Spurs.

Another can of worms brought up in this thread is the question of how many years left do you think Fergie has? My bet is the cantankerous old bastard will stick around for another 3 or 4 years.

He's been really weird with some of his selections lately. I hope it's not a sign of Wengerism.

I'd pass on Mourinho even if we don't win the title this year.

We're doing fine with Mancini.

Rob Beasley running with a story that he's back to Chelsea next season. This guy apparently doesn't print stories before they go through the Chelsea PR office first he's so embedded in there.

How much will the payout be for AVB? I'd imagine that Roman wouldn't be too happy to fork out considering how much it cost to bring AVB to Chelsea in the first place (Ancelotti payout, FC Porto payout)

Chelsea should have stuck with Ancelotti.
