Round 13 Wrap-Up
Gumbies win their 5th game in a row to finally break the Warriors reign on top of the ladder. Wonders and Dragons win to break through into the top 4. Demons and Roys play out a draw to make finals qualification that much more complicated. Hawks win their 3rd game on the trot and now set their sights on a top 8 spot. Furies once again have dominion over bottom spot.

Big winners: Gumbies (54 points) and Wonders (49 points).

1st Gumbies 8-5
gumbiesrunhome.png
Wins needed to make top 4: 2

A fantastic win against the Royals now puts Gumbies in 1st place and in the perfect position to fight for the premiership. Barrybran must be thrilled with the way the team has persevered through their tough start to the season and now look to be premiership favourites. They must not be complacent because there is still a lot of qooty left, but Gumbies seem to be on top of the world right now.

Predicted finish: 1st

Outcomes:

If Gumbies beat Bombers, Hawks and Warriors (their next 3 games) they will finish on top of the ladder.
If Gumbies lose to Bombers, Warriors and Demons they will miss out on top 4.

2nd Warriors 8-5
warriorsrunhome.png
Wins needed to make top 4: 2

Another loss makes it 3 in a row for the Warriors and for the first time since round 2 they have fallen from top spot on the ladder. A drop in form this time of the season signals alarm bells for the team that was prepping for a big finals series. Warriors now must do everything they can to right the ship in the next fortnight or they can say bye bye to a top 4 spot.

Predicted finish: 5th

Outcomes:

If Warriors beat Wonders, Gumbies and Bombers they will finish on top of the ladder.
If Warriors lose to Wonders, Gumbies and Bombers they will miss out on top 4.

3rd Wonders 7-5-1
wondershomerun.png
Wins needed to make top 8: 1
Wins needed to make top 4: 3

Two big wins in a row against top 8 teams now puts Wonders back into the top 4 and more importantly back in form leading into finals. Wonders just need one more win to safely say they are playing finals and it should be this week against the Hawks but they are no longer a pushover so it will likely be much closer than some would expect.

Predicted finish: 2nd

Outcomes:

If Wonders win their remaining 4 games and Gumbies lose once, they will finish top of the ladder.
If Wonders win against Warriors and Dragons they will finish in the top 4.
If Wonders lose to Warriors and Dragons they will miss out on the top 4.

4th Dragons 7-6
dragonsrunhome.png
Wins needed to make top 8: 1
Wins needed to make top 4: 3

A tough fought win against Swamprats moves Dragons just above Royals to sneak into the top 4 with just 4 round to go. Dragons have now done everything right to make a play for the premiership they just need to win a couple more games to cement a high ladder position. To finish top 4 all they need to do is win the same amount of games as Royals while maintaining the slim percentage above them.

Predicted finish: 3rd

Outcomes:

If Dragons win against Demons, Roys and Wonders they will finish in the top 4.
If Dragons lose to Wonders and Demons they will miss out on top 4.

5th Royals 7-6
royalsrunhome.png
Wins needed to make top 8: 1
Wins needed to make top 4: 3

A shocking loss to Gumbies sees Royals drop outside of the top 4 and now need to win more than half of their remaining games to get back in. The game against Roys this week is a must-win if they are to keep touch with the top 4 and continue to defend their premiership credentials. To make top 4 from here they need to either win more games than Dragons or win big to increase their percentage above them again.

Predicted finish: 4th

Outcomes:

If Royals win against Roys, Bombers, Swamprats, and Dragons lose to Wonders, they will finish in the top 4.
If Royals lose to Roys and Bombers they will miss out on the top 4.

6th Bombers 7-6
bombersrunhome.png
Wins needed to make top 8: 1
Wins needed to make top 4: 3

Another defeat and the Bombers are now on the cusp of dropping out of the 8 if they don't turn it around soon. 3 of their next 4 are against teams above them on the ladder so it will be very difficult to hold on to a top 8 spot from here. This weeks match against the new ladder leaders (Gumbies) will be a real test. Top 4 is now much more difficult with Bombers needing to win more than both Royals and Dragons to make it.

Predicted finish: 8th

Outcomes:

If Bombers win against Gumbies, Royals and Warriors they will finish in the top 4.
If Bombers lose to Royals and one other team they will not make top 4.

7th Demons 6-6-1
demonsrunhome.png
Wins needed to make top 8: 2
Wins needed to make top 4: 4

A draw against Roys wasn't the result the Demons were hoping for and now they fall to seventh on the ladder with the potential of missing out on finals if they don't start winning games. Top 4 seems like a pipe dream now with Demons needing to win all of their remaining games as well as hoping Dragons and Royals lose at least once.

Predicted finish: 6th

Outcomes:

If Demons beat Bears and Furies they will play finals.
If Demons lose to Dragons, Gumbies and one other team they will not play finals.

8th Roys 6-6-1
roysrunhome.png
Wins needed to make top 8: 2
Wins needed to make top 4: 4

Barely clinging onto 8th spot is Roys. They need two more wins to guarantee their spot in the 8 and it will be difficult with three of their last four opponents above them on the ladder. Roys can stop worrying about top 4 as the chances are so slim it is next to impossible, but they need to start focusing on just winning enough to make finals. 2 wins should do it from here, but tough games against Royals, Dragons and Bombers will make it difficult.

Predicted finish: 7th

Outcomes:

If Roys beat Hawks and one other team they will play finals.
If Roys lose to Hawks and win less games than Hawks in the other 3 games they will miss out on finals.

9th Hawks 6-7
hawksrunhome.png
Wins needed to make top 8: 2
Wins needed to make top 4: 4

Three wins in a row and finals is so close Hawks can taste it. They just need to win two of their last 4 games and hope Roys or Demons lose more games than them. Hawks are definitely still in contention and cannot be counted out of making finals, but a tough fortnight against Wonders (3rd) and Gumbies (1st) will probably seal their fate either way.

Predicted finish: 9th

Outcomes:

If Hawks beat Roys and win more games than Roys they will play finals.
If Hawks lose to Roys and two other teams they will not play finals.

10th Swamprats 5-7-1
swampratsrunhome.png
Wins needed to make top 8: 3

Three losses in a row and now Swamprats are one win outside the 8. They likely need 3 wins from here to play finals and luckily they have a relatively easy run compared to other top 8 hopefuls. Their next two against Bears and Furies are simply must-wins. If Swamprats manage to win those they only need to win one more game against either Wonders or Royals to make the 8. It is still in the realm of possibility, but everything needs to go right from here.

Predicted finish: 10th

Outcomes:

If Swamprats beat Bears, Furies, Royals, and Hawks/Roys lose at least 2 games, they will play finals.
If Swamprats lose to Bears and Furies they will not play finals.

11th Bears 5-8
bearsrunhome.png
Wins needed to make top 8: 3

A close win against the Warriors now gives a glimmer of hope for the Bears as they move off the bottom of the ladder and are just one and a half games outside the top 8. Finals is still possible, but very difficult from here as Bears would need to win at least 3 of their last 4 while also hoping that Roys, Hawks, and Swamprats above them all lose at least 2 or 3 of their remaining games.

Predicted finish: 11th

Outcomes:

If Bears beat Swamprats, Demons, Furies, and Hawks/Roys lose 3 games, they will play finals.
If Bears lose to Swamprats they will likely not play finals.
If Bears lose to Furies and two other teams they will finish bottom of the ladder.

12th Furies 4-9
furiesrunhome.png
Wins needed to make top 8: 4

A loss to the Hawks means Furies are back on the bottom of the ladder. They are still a chance of making finals but need to win all 4 of their final games and Demons, Roys, Hawks all can't win more than one of their last 4 games. The chances of that happening is pretty much zero, so Furies can start planning their holiday vacations from this week.

Predicted finish: 12th

Outcomes:

If Furies beat Warriors, Swamprats, Demons, Bears, and Swamprats/Roys/Hawks lose 3 games each then Furies will play finals.
If Furies lose to Bears and one other team they will finish bottom of the ladder.

If Swamprats beat Bears, Furies, Royals, and Hawks/Roys lose at least 2 games, they will play finals.
If Swamprats lose to Bears and Furies they will not play finals.

11th Bears 5-8
View attachment 1117217

View attachment 1117221

Round 14 Wrap-Up
Gumbies, Warriors and Royals all win to further cement their top 4 chances. Demons break into the top 4 once again thanks to Wonders losing. Dragons and Bombers lose to teams above them and now find their spots in the top 8 slipping away. Hawks finally break into the top 8 with another stunning win to take Roys spot. Swamprats win still gives them a chance to make finals. Bears and Furies lose again and will likely fight for the wooden spoon in the final round.

Big Winners: Demons (44 points), Hawks (39 points)

1st Gumbies 9-5
gumbiesrunhome.png

Another win for the Gumbies and now top 4 is almost a certainty. The round 16 match against Warriors will likely determine who finishes on top. This weeks match is another streakslam with Gumbies (6 wins in a row) and Hawks (4 wins in a row) squaring off. A lot at stake in these last 3 games.

Scenarios:
Gumbies beat Warriors and one other team = Top of the Ladder
Gumbies beat Demons = Top 4 Finish
Gumbies lose all 3 games = Home Elimination Final

Prediction: 1st

2nd Warriors 9-5

warriorsrunhome.png
A come from behind victory against the Furies was a nail biter, but the Warriors got the job done. They now need at least one more win to cement a top 4 spot and they come up against Wonders (5th), Gumbies (1st) and Bombers (7th) in their remaining games. A tough road but Warriors need to win these games if they are serious about contending for the premiership.

Scenarios:
Warriors beat Gumbies and one other team = Top of the Ladder
Warriors beat Wonders = Top 4 Finish
Warriors lose all 3 games = Home Elimination Final

Prediction: 2nd

3rd Royals 8-6

royalsrunhome.png

Royals likely have done enough to play finals, but they aren't done climbing the ladder just yet. They likely need two more wins to finish inside the top 4. Bombers this week on form should be an easy victory, but after 4 losses in a row they will come out fighting so Royals better be prepared.

Scenarios:
Royals win all 3 games and Warriors/Gumbies lose at least one each = Top of the Ladder
Royals beat Bombers and Hawks = Top 4 Finish
Royals lose all 3 games = Away Elimination Final or possibly miss out on finals.

Prediction: 4th

4th Demons 7-6-1

demonsrunhome.png

Demons had a brilliant win against Dragons and now move just inside the top 4. A decent run home against the two bottom teams should give them the wins to secure a top 4 finish, but the final game against Gumbies will be a test.

Scenarios:
Demons win all 3 games or Demons beat Bears, Furies and Wonders/Dragons/Bombers all lose one game = Top 4 Finish
Demons beat Bears and Furies, but Wonders/Dragons/Bombers win all 3 games = Home Elimination Final
Demons beat Bears or Furies = Away Elimination Final
Demons lose all 3 games = Miss out on Finals

Prediction: 3rd

5th Wonders 7-6-1

wondershomerun.png
A bad loss to the Hawks now makes a top 4 finish all the more difficult for Wonders. This weeks match against 2nd place Warriors will likely decide if Wonders can make top 4 or not. They can still miss out on top 8 so at least one more win is needed in these final games to qualify.

Scenarios:
Wonders win all 3 games and Demons lose one game = Top 4 Finish
Wonders lose to Warriors but beat Swamprats and Dragons = Home Elimination Final
Wonders win only one more game = Away Elimination Final
Wonders lose all 3 games = Miss out on Finals

Prediction: 6th

6th Dragons 7-7

dragonsrunhome.png

A bad loss to the Demons means Dragons are now just clinging onto a top 8 spot. Winnable games against Roys and Bears will likely see them qualify for finals, but the last game against Wonders will decide if either team can still reach top 4.

Scenarios:
Dragons win all 3 games and Wonders/Demons lose at least one game = Top 4 Finish
Dragons beat Roys and Bears, but lose to Wonders = Home Elimination Final
Dragons lose all 3 games = Miss out on Finals

Prediction: 5th

7th Bombers 7-7

bombersrunhome.png

Four losses in a row and now Bombers are just barely holding onto a spot in the 8 after being in 2nd place just a month ago. Still a tough run home with games against Royals (3rd) and Warriors (2nd) to come, it will be difficult for Bombers to make top 4 let alone stay in the top 8 from here.

Scenarios:
Bombers win all 3 games and Demons/Wonders/Dragons all lose at least one game = Top 4 Finish
Bombers beat Roys and one other team = Home Elimination Final
Bombers lose all 3 games = Miss out on Finals

Prediction: 10th

8th Hawks 7-7

hawksrunhome.png

Another great win for the Hawks and finally they sneak their way into the top 8 with just 3 round left. Amazing to think that this team was competing for the wooden spoon just a month ago. Their last 3 games however are very difficult, coming up against Gumbies (1st) and Royals (3rd) in the next fortnight. They will likely need to win at least one of those games as well as the Roys game to make finals.

Scenarios:
Hawks win all 3 games = Home Elimination Final
Hawks beat Roys and one other team or Hawks beat Roys and Swamprats lose 2 games = Away Elimination Final
Hawks beat Roys, but Roys/Swamprats win two games or Hawks lose all 3 games = Miss out on Finals

Prediction: 7th

9th Roys 6-7-1

roysrunhome.png
A big blow to the Roys finals chances with a loss to the Royals and now they find themselves half a game outside the top 8. Just 3 games left against all top 8 teams to get back in will be a challenge. The final game against Hawks looks set to be a mini-elimination game just before the real finals begin.

Scenarios:
Roys win all 3 games = Home Elimination Final
Roys beat Hawks and one other team or Roys beat Dragons/Bombers and Dragons/Bombers lose all their games = Away Elimination Final
Roys lose all 3 games = Miss out on Finals

Prediction: 8th

10th Swamprats 6-7-1

swampratsrunhome.png

A much needed with against Bears now puts Swamprats only half a game outside the 8, but they are competing for the last 3 spots in the 8 along with Roys, Hawks, Bombers, and Dragons. Furies this week is a must-win if they want to play finals and then one more win against either Wonders or Royals will be required.

Scenarios:
Swamprats win all 3 games = Home Elimination Final
Swamprats beat Furies and one other team, and Hawks/Bombers/Dragons lose at least two games = Away Elimination Final
Swamprats lose all 3 games = Miss out on Finals

Prediction: 9th

11th Bears 5-9

bearsrunhome.png
Wins needed to make top 8: 3

A loss to Swamprats makes it nearly impossible for Bears to make finals now. They have to win all 3 games remaining and hope that all the team above them lose at least 2 games. If I were a Bear I would be making holiday plans right about now.

Scenarios:
Bears win all 3 games and Swamprats/Roys/Hawks lose at least 2 games = Away Elimination Final
Bears beat Furies = Finish 11th
Bears lose all 3 games = Wooden Spoon

Prediction: 11th

12th Furies 4-10

furiesrunhome.png
Losing to the Warriors puts finals 100% out of calculation now, so Furies are going to have a long off-season to figure out where they went wrong. The last game of the home and away season against Bears is set to be the spoonbowl of the SFA. Whomever loses gets the wooden spoon, so we should see an absolute horror show of tanking by the Furies to get that first draft pick.

Scenarios:
Furies win all 3 games = Finish 9th/10th
Furies beat Bears and Bears lose all 3 games = Finish 11th
Furies lose all 3 games = Wooden Spoon

Prediction: 12th
