We don't match up that well against GWS because not only are they a quality side but very quick and do us for pace. We are smarter and use the ball better but when they get the ball they burn us with pace. Want to avoid GWS if possible, best way to do that is finish 4th, play Richmond at the G in a qualifier and win and then would probably get an undermanned WC at the G in a Prelim and WC record at the G in finals is terrible. Would also put Richmond on the road against GWS in a Prelim - something Richmond will be trying to avoid at all costs.

Am I right in thinking we have never played the Tigers in a final?

If so it would be a great way to kick off a finals rivalry in front of 90 thousand plus at the G.

Without TOB, Langford and Duryea were a completely different team, were not carrying a turnover merchant and we could beat Richmond in the finals with this new combination, no longer having a player or 3 letting the coach and most of their team mates down week in week out.

Champagne Football the last month or so, im sure club politics will ruin this good feeling and a turnover merchant will sneak a way into the squad, but its been good while it lasts.

Politics? Do u think it's by chance that we are where we are? Every move is calculated including every selection. If u cant see that then ure not looking hard enough

Who am I most scared of in the top four? Hard to say GWS at home would be pretty f**ked. Manic Richmond at the G could be tough too. But the fact we are even thinking about this is awesome
All the pressure and expectation would be on Richmond if we came up against them in finals. They'd be heavy favourites trying to make the most of their window. We're just a team mid-rebuild who are making the most of our season. We lose, we still have exceeded expectations.

Absolutely - beware the team with nothing to lose with Clarko at the helm

The great thing is we don’t have to worry about other teams helping us out to make finals
We are in so need to be tipped out of position

This season has shown us there is still another curveball or two to play out .
Teams with nothing to play for can be very dangerous and we face one on Saturday night

Spot on, have considered making the 8 and playing a final as a win this year.

The idea being to go into next season with the guys getting a taste of finals and a hunger to go further.

Have only just entertained the idea of actually having an impact in the finals after yesterday.

The last two weeks have been great fun, so will just go along for the ride, but if we bring the heat of the last few weeks who knows what can happen....

So next week, what we need is
Hawks to beat Saints
Power to beat Pies
Eagles to beat Dees
Not sure about Giants and Swans

Big one apart from us winning is Power beating Pies. Even if we win 2, if Pies win next week and smash Freo last round they can overtake us on %

We have a secret weapon though.......Clarko

I guess it’s not really a secret then

They need to make up about 50 points on us.
Not sure with all of their injuries they have the firepower.....

The fact we are even discussing this is just plain crazy

Exactly.

Just finished reading Sam Mitchell's autobiography, and if there is one prevailing narrative from the book, it's that Clarko is a) a genius and b) and unsentimental prick. Every move he makes is completely calculated and he has absolutely no issue in offending club champions and heroes if it means winning. He does not give a toss about reputations or 'political favourites' as some naive supporters bang on about.

We really should be putting St Kilda to the sword to sure up the %.

So next week - if Port beat Collingwood, GWS beat Sydney, WCE beat Melbourne, and we beat (ideally thrash STK) we make the top 4 almost no matter what happens in the last round. Those results would leave us a game and 7% inside the top 4.

Exciting times. We're almost certain of making the 8 and probably more likely than not to make the top 4. That first ever final against Richmond could be coming...
