Doran had my blood boiling again today, basically calling Andrew Symonds a mercenary. Doran says that because Symonds came out and said on the day of the auction that he couldnt tour Pakistan, thats why he was paid the big bucks, and it was all part of the plan.

Doran u twit, Symonds has been saying for 2 months that he doubts he will tour Pakistan! Everytime he has been asked about it, as he was yesterday, he has said the same thing. If you kept up with the world of sport you would know this! And if the Indians are offering him 1.4 million for 3 years, do u expect him to say no?

I bet if 3AW came along and offered Doran 3 times more than what he gets at SEN, he would of course say no...

I am not a big fan of Doran either, but please get the facts right.

The word mercenary came about, because a journalist asked Symonds that exact question today. Mark then went on from there.

Finey also raised the same point last night. He queried that Symonds came out on the day of the auction saying he was not going to Pakistan and then he's the highest paid Australian player.

The Pakistan tour and IPL series don't clash do they,so it makes Doran's comment seem very dumb.

and of course he was going to be asked about the Pakistan tour as the Election had been held the day before in Pakistan.Dopey Doran. Now I see why people think he's an idiot [I don't listen to him].

My facts are quite correct champ, are u saying that Doran wasnt insinuating that he thought Symonds was a mercenary? Cos it was very clear to me that he was.

So what about the 100 other times that Symonds has stated that he wouldnt tour, was that all part of the plan as well? The facts are that he was doing an interview and was once again asked about the Pakistan tour, and he gave the same answer as he has always done. The cynical muck-rakers such as Fine and Doran choose to focus on yesterdays answer and not the fact that he has said it all along...

disregard previous crass post, remember reading this now about the schoolkids.
for them not to reply shows a lack of class and a holier than though attitude.
fwiw, morning glory is now not compulsory listening in my house or car anymore. i'll make sure i listen to the run home, casual fridays saturday spotlight and on the rise as compulsory. try to catch born in the usa and fineys show but i'm always up at 5am for training so i can't stay up too late. agree with the "stale" comments regarding mg, kb and to some extent doran. doran is actually getting some great guests on his show which is interesting listening.
hope they get eddie for the footy, might be the shot in the arm they need.

No hard feelings at all this forum is for the think skinned as they use to say when i was growing up.
Ferris I like to think of this forum as being better than being at the footy and yelling at your player from your team that you didnt think should be playing.
I remember i use to abuse David Kernahan years ago when I was going to Princes Park to support Carlton and this forum is just like that so Johnston is my David Kernahan where you get to post your frustrations.
Best thing is if the Sen people read it then its beter than yelling from the boundary line .
I think i am alot older than most on this forum and also had a lifetime of working in management for a number of companies so I also find it a hobby horse observing the way Sen seems to be run so poorly

Very funny post No Blanks one of the more creative on this website forum.

Years ago when the Desert war was underway Iraq had an information minister who always said iraq was going to win the war and that the USA were being soundly beaten maybe Barry Quick is that man in disguise .

Bit rude on 3AW they said about the SEN ratings that the new home of football took a massive blow in the ratings and is now instead of a home is just a tiny shed in the backyard

Yeah well doesn't surprise me. SENs competition loves taking digs at them. I remember when SEN went into get the footy and they got it all the 3aw announcers were saying how stupid it was and 3aw had been doing it for decades and it shouldn't change blah blah blah.

The thing is i've never heard anybody bag 3aw on SEN. Maybe a caller or 2 say that they hate particular commentators on 3aw but not actually taking a dig at them directly.

Can anybody answer these questions.
The gladiators and 1 week at a time won't fit into SENs AFL schedule during the footy season.
How is this going to work to keep them on air?
Finey's Final Siren usually airs at 11-1 when the gladiators air and 1 week at a time usually airs when the footy is on and FFS too.

Can anyone answer this question?
Will these shows go to after midnight shows bringing back SEN overnights 7 days a week?

-Ben

I'll cop that one on the chin.

Who else here thinks that Dimmy from Thomastown is not a real caller and put on by someone?
Gee, never noticed that  His Guido Hatzis impersonation is good for a laugh, and he sometimes talks some sense. I've got a feeling the real Dimi (behind the alias) is just a regular geek off the street.

I really shouldn’t post again about Dave from St. Kilda for concern of upsetting the regulars in this thread, but I thought this night time stuff might just be too good to pass up one more time for those not au fait with SEN’s biggest talkback tosser. So I stayed up last night after 1am working in my home office while checking out the IPL auction, and…viola! The droning hum of "Diamond" Dave from St. Kilda.

An edited version
Dave: not looking too good there for the Olympics is it with Spielberg pulling out as artistic director of the opening and closing ceremonies?
Phillips: …I don’t know how big a deal that is

(Now pop the champagne cork for this)

Dave: but as you probably know I do have Chinese ancestry, you know, going back to the gold rush a hundred years before John So came out here. But, you know, I’d love to see it do well, part Chinese ancestry
Phillips: stays silent:cool:

(back to the ET guy)

Dave: but they say the sticking point, you know, the former actress Mia Farrow has been pressuring Spielberg to pull out of the Olympics, is obviously, they said on the news that China buys 64 percent of the Sudan government’s oil and there is genocide there taking place at the moment. I think 200,000 people were killed so far and the Chinese government I gather is the exclusive arms supplier to the Sudanese government. It’s not very impressive is it?
Philips, now probably aching to talk about Shaq vs. Kobe this afternoon plays with a straight bat and says we’ve known about Chinese abuses for some time.

Dave: my view is…we’ve had Olympics in developing countries before…I just would have personally preferred my own view, not that they’d pay attention, but we would have had it in a developing nation that is a democracy, say, like India or Indonesia where you can write in to your local newspaper…and criticize your government and still have your personal liberties and there’s no surveillance.
Is this guy crazy or what.

So much for that Chinese ancestry appreciation. At this point I’m thinking Dave should head on over to East Timor or West Papua or even downtown Jakarta and feel free to start penning those letters of dissent for the friendly neighbourhood Indonesian newspapers. Good luck with your liberties and no surveillance, pal. And it takes about 2 years to start a business in India after you’ve got through the bureaucracy and paid everyone off, too.

Just can’t wait till "Dynamo" Dave realizes a number of the new IPL teams are owned by petrochemical and concrete companies. Hmmm, I wonder if he has any info on India’s version of Worksafe? I’m sure he’ll be bending Phillips and/or Franklin’s ear just a tad on that one. He also said in the past that Glenn McGrath shouldn’t go to India because he’s earned enough money from cricket. Unbelievable moonbat.

Phillips finishes off by setting him straight on his football observations of Libberatore and Chris Bond and swiftly moves to the next caller. I must say, Brett Phillips is easy to listen to, letting most of this stuff go through to the keeper.

So, in keeping with the popular verbiage of early morning SEN: Dave’s a DUD.

Haven't upset me. Dave should get his facts right on Chris Bond as Phillips rightly pointed out.Think Dave's a crashing monotnous bore

For our info

Jogging memory, checking owaat site and thinking about what Franka said...OWAAT will be on sat nights for 3 hours from 11pm when footy gets into gear - same as last year..

As for gladiators, who cares - Peakkie turns me off.

For montybrasco re Your comment about Dave and this cherub..
" Dave: but as you probably know I do have Chinese ancestry, you know, going back to the gold rush a hundred years before John So came out here. "

Dave spins that Chinese ancestory line ever 2 to 3 weeks, when it suits him, like the brother in big business or government overseas etc etc.

Then we have my personal favourites, that he extoils virtually every time he calls...

1/Starts to mention topic 1(more opening monologue), then bruntly gets to real topic he wants to "spruik about"

2/ after giving his opinion he religiously says "So Brett what's your view"

3/ changes topic especially if Brett or Franka disagrees or corrects him..

4/ When he has moaned about 3rd choice topic, says "Just finally and thanks for your time" THEN proceeds to go on about another subject and again ask "what's your view"

5/ repeat 4 again..yes, will state again, Just finally and thanks for your time, he will again talk about something else...

P.S. Monty, there are loads more Dave idiosyncrasies out there.

So no Finey's final siren on Saturday? Now i do love OWAAT but Finey's final siren was great, surely it could be on everyday after the footy. I think people will be very dissapointed.

-Ben

I can confirm OWAAT will be running every Saturday night from the time the footy finishes (varies due to the state the game is played in) until 2am.

No way ! Fineys Final Siren was one of the biggest success for SEN last footy season I listened to it all the time after the footy.
If this is true then the program manager Mark Johnson is a real dick.
Why is it that this guy keeps the bad shows and hosts on and the good ones seem to go ( spotlight , Eva and now Finey after the footy )

I agree, it was a great show after the footy, but, do you really expect the poor man to work 7 days.......surely they could have the same format, just with a different person at the helm.....dont see why that wouldn't work...
