Yep, my parents hate the Simpsons, all we can do educate and spread the word (and love) of The Simpsons...not any of their last 10 seasons though...

The downside of the Simpsons is its a fair representation in the decay of American culture, along with the concepts such as the idea of 'Superstar', Commercialisation, Mass Media that you associate with all things "Big". The Americans have been doing it since the 80s creating a massive influence in the so-called "Free" world

With things "big" you get that perpetuation of the idea that "You get famous you become immortal" in America

^ You dont

The show made it big (or penetrated the international market) because it captured the little things in American life but in the meantime it has forsaken everything else that was ugly in American society. Ie debt, drugs - the consumption of not just illegal drugs but the bigger scourge in the form of pharmaceuticals and the misbelief that the Americans have a cure for Everything

^ Although with that belief it remains a question why the Americans still havent found a cure for Aids

There is a decay in that side of humanity, just look at what happened to Michael Jackson, he was everything that was perpetuated in the so-called American dream yet he was everything that symbolises everything that was ugly with American culture: with Jackson's excessive plastic surgery, excessive spending and excessive drug taking. Or even the inevitability that Michael Jordan - the world's biggest sports star inevitably has to retire, because he got old

[/controversial]

Anyway in the meantime:->

haha seems like most people are re-watching it or something, i keep seeing people posting pictures off episodes i just watched randomly in the past couple days.

Smithers: I'm afraid we have a bad image, Sir. Market research shows people see you as something of an ogre.
Burns: I ought to club them and eat their bones!

I think that may have been said recently, but I just wanted to highlight i found that quality. Burns is underrated.

I love when Burns talks himself up, and comes up with something obscure
'tight firm buttocks'
'strong sharp teeth'
