Why are Richmond supporters so intent on discussing the best way to defeat us in that ' stopping the Tigers ' thread on the MB, I mean WTF, I don't see any pies, cats or eagles fans discussing the best way to defeat their own team.

Yeah they are and seem to be really getting into it, it's like they want it too happen. Almost like they are embarrassed by our success.
I'm trying to locate the stopping the eagles 2019 thread from last year where eagles fans flood in there telling all and sundry the best way to beat them but I can't find it"............that's because there isn't one and I doubt eagle fans would be telling the world how to beat them.

I understand discussion but to say the best way to beat us is to do this, this and this, it's like telling a stranger the best way to pick up your partner. It's like you want to see it happen.

Because we like discussing the game in general?
I am not speaking for anyone else but Richmond is my favourite team. However, the reason why I like to follow the game is much more than Richmond. I like the gameplay of Aussie Rules in general. I think it is one of the most entertaining sports that I have come across and sometimes when topics like this arise, I like to dissect a team’s gameplay and give my input on what I have analysed or observed including any weaknesses to a team’s strategy. And yes, that includes Richmond. When I analyse the game, I personally like to remain as impartial as I can.
I don’t see why Richmond supporters shouldn’t discuss Richmond’s weaknesses or “how to beat Richmond”. Opposition clubs are not going to sit here on bigfooty taking our tips so it’s not like we are throwing out some intel.
No, it’s not because I have very little if any bearing on the results. I don’t want Richmond to be beaten.
That’s more like Richmond players or a coach going to opposition players and say “well, this is how you beat me”. Now that would be a problem because they have a direct influence on the results. However, I don’t see the problem of discussing counter strategies to Richmond as a supporter.
Still wierd, maybe change the merry go round status of that thread and start discussing the best way to beat the eagles as those fans seem to be flooding that thread.
As for the question anyway, there is no single way to beat Richmond or any team, it's who best applies their own game plan that will win the game. We lost 6 games to 6 different styles while injury prone, the chip chip holding onto the ball style didn't work in the second half of the year did it which i see a few are saying that is the best way.
Chip chip only work's when the oppo are shit or off their game, look at the pies they played chip chip in round 2 last year and it worked because we were off our game, they tried the same stunt the very next week against the eagles and it blew up in their faces, why, because the eagles were onto it.
So even though one style might work one game, it wont necessarily work the next so that's why there is no one style that will defeat a team over and over because they wake up to it.

If you find it weird then that is your opinion. I personally don’t find it weird. The whole point of the thread though is discussing Richmond, not West Coast. That’s how it gets derailed. West Coast fan says Richmond had an easy draw. Richmond fan says West Coast were a 5-8 side. Extend this for 5 pages and it gets boring.
There are unreasonable Eagles fans in that thread for sure, but that was a similar thing with some Richmond fans in the thread about West Coast 2020.
About the game style, the chipping style doesn’t work against Richmond unless it is done with speed and quick decision making from what I have seen. What Collingwood did in the PF and what West Coast did in the first quarter of the Round 22 game works. The slow chipping of Collingwood in Round 2 however usually does not work against Richmond as evidenced by our second game against them. It is only a matter of time that it all unravels. I think we were just shocked by the loss of Rance and Riewoldt going down in-game. We may not have known back then that we were a shot for the Premiership without them so morale could have been low.
The gamestyle that beats Richmond though is very hard to do over 4 quarters. You need to be good aerially, fast, good kicking skills, be good in contests and be accurate in front of goal. You can do it for half a quarter, a full quarter or maybe even a quarter and a half, but eventually something will unravel and Richmond seize control over the game. Once they do, they are tough to beat.
