Just throw some normal dishwashing liquid in there. Miles cheaper and gets it the **** done.

EDIT: Do not put normal dishwashing liquid where these tablets go, you will gets suds galore. You should be able to buy something cheaper than $72 for 45 capsules though. I threw some dishwashing liquid in the place where the rinse aid goes after I ran out of rinse aid and one lot of dishes had come out with fogged up glasses and not quite clean looking dishes. The next lot after I put the dishwashing liquid into the rinse aid recess came out 100%.

The other thing to do apparently is run the hot tap in your kitchen sink until it is hot before starting the dishwasher cycle, this way you have hot water going in there straight away and this cleans better of course.

The other hack is to get a wife, though I would counsel strongly against ever advising said wife on any aspect of dishwasher utilisation. I once borrowed someone's wife to see how advising her on how to use my dishwasher would affect things. She reacted in mercurial fashion to some well meaning advice from me. I would advise never to attempt this with a wife of your own, divorces are getting more and more expensive all the time.
