Must take the 3 against Swansea this weekend to put a stop to this bad run at home, especially after back to back wins away. Must get the results against these teams.

sale has fallen through ( if you really believe there was an offer in the first place). gutted reading the tweets this morning. whats the point of investing anything more emotionally in this club, rafa will walk and fat cockney bastard wont care. no ambition just a billboard for sports direct
 
I reckon Cashley is wanting to see the new TV deal money next month the greedy fecker. Staveley's group has at least made some noises about still wanting the club so maybe there is a chance it happens later on.

Seems like we might get some new players in to help boost our chances of survival with Kenedy joining on loan from Chelsea. Should give us more options on the left.

Also been a bit of talk about a supposed record signing striker (12 years since we got Owen and in that time, clubs have passed us by and shown more ambition). We desperately need a quality striker though - won't hold my breath however as we've all been led down that path many a time in windows past.

Might end up with another Shefki Kuqi or someone on a free transfer. :$

Disappointing to concede late and miss the win but at least got some new additions on deadline day.

By our own low standards, this was a pretty good deadline day. Brought in a much needed striker to hopefully provide the goals we need to stay up (hopefully does better than Doumbia lol). Kenedy had a really impressive debut taking the game on and creating chances. Even got the assist for Lascelles' goal. Don't know much about this Dubravka fella but he gives us a third keeper and allows us to send out highly rated Woodman on loan to Aberdeen.

For the outgoings, only Mitro is a sad one to see but he isn't in favour with Rafa and barely plays anyway so we're not really losing much. Aarons and Woodman need game time for their development and Saivet and Colback are surplus to requirements.

In: Slimani, Kenedy and Dubravka(keeper).

Out: Mitro, Colback, Aarons, Saivet and Woodman.

Overall, would say our team is stronger at the end of the window than it was at the start. We've got potentially 2 new additions to our best XI without losing anyone from our best lineup and clearing some of the wage budget.

Wouldn't mind giving Nasri a short term deal also to help give us some more options wide - not the same player he once was but would probably still bring some value for us.

Massive game v Palace next up.
 
Huge result for us. Started the match in the drop zone and moved clear with a win. Dubravka had a great debut between the sticks. Slimani didn't feature either which is a plus as he's still to come into the equation. Shelvey bossed the midfield Diame, Ritchie got his first PL goal of the season. He's been a bit underwhelming form wise this season so hopefully the goal kick starts some improved form from him.
 
Looks like we're going to clear relegation by a fairly comfortable margin.

I'll be honest and admit I thought we were dead and buried after the January window, but we have scraped out enough wins (combined with a large pile of shit teams below us) and now we actually have a chance to finish in the top half of the table.

Lascelles is an absolute beast, and will probably get snapped up by a top 6 club after this season but I haven't felt this comfortable with a CB since Jonathon Woodgate.

Yeah how good is it, now closer to a top 10 finish than the relegation places. Still not safe yet but there are definitely far worse sides below us which should go down you'd think. We are playing some very good stuff of late - best defence outside of the top 8 I think and far superior to most of the other relegation candidates which is effectively an extra point for us. 3 clean sheets in a row too!

Lascelles should really be in the England squad - same with Shelvey on form. Hopefully we can keep Lascelles, seems some of the big clubs are sniffing. With Dubravka in goal and Lascelles and Lejeune forming a superb CB pairing, we look very solid (a rare thing for a Toon side). Everyone is pulling their weight which is great to see. Not many out and out stars in the side but playing with unity, determination and teamwork under Rafa's guidance is paying dividends. Hope we can finish strongly, attract some potential buyers, get rid of Ashley and then sign up Rafa for a longer term deal. A man can hope!

P.S Mackems could suffer double relegation as early as next Tuesday! :eek:
 
2-1 win at Leicester. Surely all but staying up now. Shelvey and Perez with the goals. Another 3 big points on the road for us.
 
Maybe a top 10 finish on the cards now.

Some rumours Amanda Staveley's group have renewed their interest too. Not sure if anything to it but would make sense for any interested parties to start sniffing around again now that our PL survival looks all but guaranteed.

Should win against Brom, rest are tough. We may only get four points from the remaining six games.

But then who the hell cares as long as we stay up. 10 points clear of relegation with six to play. We beat Brom and we're staying up.
 
Yeah definitely a tough run in home - so it's good we've had this mini revival for form.

That being said, yes some of those games will be tough, but we're in some good form ourselves. Think the 4th most points collected in the last 5 games? Not to mention we're looking strong defensively too - could see us potentially nicking a few draws.

40 is the magic number we want though most seem to think we're safe as it is (easily 3 worse teams than us at the moment plus our GD is superior to everyone in the bottom half I think). Just need to keep the hunger, focus and unity and we should be okay (some teams mentally check out once they think they are safe - doubt that would happen under Rafa's watch lol).

Most ever while still relegated is 42 points, but there are a lot of teams between us and relegation too.

Still want the 40, after the year we lost to Villa on the final day to go down I have no faith at all.
 
Haha yeah think we have all been burned a few too many times during the Ashley years - no point counting any chickens before the eggs and all that. Good to see Rafa saying we still need 2 more points and hearing some of the players making noises about wanting to finish as high up the table as possible.

Would be pretty amazing to see safety confirmed and the Mackems to be relegated on the same weekend. :D
