Pretty good list although Glass would be in the top 20 somewhere behind Scarlo.

In response to the Glass vs Scarlett debate...

Surely you can understand, Cat's fans, that you being able to see him in action every weekend (Scarlett), whilst not having the opportunity to view Glass in the same manner, is going to give you a less than clear idea of who is really better. Same with us WCE fans. I think Glass has been better, but I don't really know, because ive proberly seen less than half the amount of Cat's games than Eagles ones. From what ive noticed on BF, the neutral observers are split pretty evenly. I would like to be able to say, yeah, Glass is better, or Scarlett is better because they were chosen for AA, however, with Robert Walls on the selectors panel, im not really sure they can be trusted either.

Anyway, my sausage roll is ready.

I'm a cat supporter so will understand that people will see my view as biased, but:

I have Foxtel and have watched at least ten to twelve West Coast games. I have also been to watch them live a couple of times – most recently against Essendon at the Dome.

Glass has been as good if not better than Scarlett, playing one on one against his opponent. He has huge strength and nullifying ability and I would choose him before Scarlett one out against J. Brown in the goal square.

However, this is where Glass’s skills stop. On the rare occasion he creates play he seldom leaves the back line.

Scarlett not only stops his opponent but he gathers the ball, evades players and runs, bounces, creates through the midfield and even puts the ball inside fifty.

This is why I have Scarlett three places above Glass in my top 30. It is the fact that Scarlett has multiple dimensions to his game that sees him get the nod over Glass.

You may argue that he is not playing the traditional Full-Back position but I would disagree. Times have changed and rebound is now required from all defensive players, including the full-back.

People continue to publish lists that have Heath Shaw on them, when both Tarkyn Lockyer and Scott Burns have been better than he has this year.

Shaw might be our best chance for AA because HBF/BP is less competitive than the midfield, but on a Top 30 list, if Shaw is going to make it, Lockyer and Burns should be ahead of him.

are yuo saying you would have him in a pocket next to glass in the aa side?... personally i think thats how its gonna go, scarlett has played small before with great success, glass not so great haha, he gets chopped by the like of johnson n,brown etc... but loves playing on the gorillas... meh, both champs

It's good to see a non-Geelong supporter acknowledge the season Steve Johnson is having. His stats are comparable with Riewoldt this year:

...............Riewoldt....S Johnson
Games........19................16
Av Disp........18................18.3
Av Marks......9.7...............7.2
Av Tack........1...................2.1
Tot Goals.....39..................38
Av Goals......2.1.................2.4

That really makes the lack of mention of Brad Johnson in this thread quite comical.

Brad Johnson
Games......20
Av Disp.....19.2
Av marks....7.8
Av Tack.....1.75
Tot Goals.....54
Av Goals....2.7

Steve Johnson has been awesome this year.

Peter Bell has been very underrated this year if you take out the game where he got injured he is averaging 25 touches (up from 21) and has kicked around 30 goals.

I'd have C. Brown from Hawthorn in my top 30, he has comprehensively beaten a lot of names on your top 30 list and will be in the AA team.

PS- i a neutral supporter I would have Scarlett just ahead of Glass because of his attacking play.

No. I am saying Scarlett should be named as the Full-Back in the AA side and Glass should be on the bench or not in the side. I am saying Scarlett has had a better year playing FB than Glass as he does more than just defend.

Milburn??? Been one of our best easily

I had him at no. 50 but i think his performance this year should be ranked between 10 and 20. It's hard to fit everyone in.

Good effort. :thumbsu:

Looking out for my own club's players, I reckon either Sam Mitchell or Luke Hodge should be in the top 10. Brad Sewell and Jordan Lewis also deserve a mention on this list. I'd have put them both in before Peter Bell or Steve Johnson.

brad sewell and jordan lewis before peter bell yes
brad sewell and jordan lewis before steve johnson NO

Steve Johnson has been so important for geelong this year, he is their x factor and performs on a consistant basis

No bloody way. Scarletts been the best full back so he should get that position.
