The democrats need a complete overhaul. Move away from the DNC oligarchy and go back to being a blue collar party.
I don’t think it’s as easy as going back, for instance there’s a hell of a lot of unions at present who are at voting odds with their constituents, have a look at the steal workers in Pennsylvania or the Teamsters Union.

There’s a hell of a lot of trust that needs to be built back up.

I listened to the teamsters ceo on ‘this past weekend’, he was saying that the first time when they did polls the majority of their members voted republican.

The election on identity politics and populism.

As elections go, its a helluva win. Might have been repeated but theres only a few hundred thousand votes separating Pennsylvania, Michigan, North Carolina.. if you add in close counts in Wisconsin and Arizona., these states will arguably be called for a recount. Stunning how close and divided that country really is.

To me, personally it was a vote on Borders, Trans people and Cost of living.

Still stunned how Trump was allowed to run for presidency after Jan 6 but whatever, good luck to em

Thats ****ing crazy.. voting themselves to be booted from the country.. wow

This was a similar theme here when we had the influx of boat people, legal migrants were upset these people were queue skipping which meant their friends/relatives who wanted to migrate would get pushed further back due to illegal arrivals.

Even though I think the majority who came here were legitimate asylum seekers who fled their country of origin due to wars or persecution, they passed a lot of safe havens on their way to get here and a lot of people felt you shouldn't be afforded the same rights as those who flee to the closest safe haven.

Nobody who migrated to the USA legally has anything to worry about and even Trump said in his acceptance speech that America will be open to migrants during his presidency, but you have to come over legally. They want to be able to vet the people coming into their country to make sure bad people aren't amongst those coming in and I think every country has the right to be picky about who they let in if that is their desire.

Bernie is a hypocrite who abandoned the working class people in his own supporter base for large corporate donors, he just wanted to be a career politician who got rich over bribes/kickbacks instead of fight and use leverage to force votes on things like increase minimum wage or medicare for everyone to expose those people in the party who would publicly block such policies.

I would've loved to be a birdie in the room when the party rat ****ed him and then proceeded to ask for a an endorsement for Clinton.
it was one of those wtf moments, Bernie has a long history of voting on principle but when push came to shove wtf happened..

So sanders is saying to counter the extreme flood of voters to the right, we should go further to the left?

Sure inflation and cost of living was a big issue and you might see a more normal voting pattern return under benign economic conditions, but if you running for president and aren’t seen as

  • tough on immigration
  • tough on “America first” policy

You aren’t winning

A lot of Bernie bros endup up being Trump voters, guys like Joe Rogan and his huge following were left leaning pro Bernie supporters when he was anti-establishment and with his bending of the knee they lost a huge part of the younger voters, both men and women, across all demographics, black, white, hispanic, asian, muslim, etc.

I don't think Trump's votes were much different to what they were in 2020 or 2016, the big variance is the support for Democrats have thrown up against him. Fancy not even running the Democrat primary to figure out who the people wanted to represent them. The party is just a bunch of fraudsters who talk the talk but never walk the walk. They never do anything they promise to do.

I am just surprised there isn't a larger pushback against them.

I don't think Trump's administration is going to be any better, i think if he goes through with high tariffs it has the potential to be a disaster for their economy and the world economy if it degenerates to trade wars, but at least Trump is a bit of an open book, he says what he wants to do and he does what he says he is going to do if it is at all humanly possible.

He is also prone to significantly changing his mind on things, depending on who he has around him, this can be positive and negative, as he sometimes puts horrific arse kissers around him, but if he listens to Kennedy junior in terms of the health and wellbeing of their citizens there is scope for this party to do something significant for the people that will live on long past his term.
