Cant help wondering if it all might have been different if kamala had just gone on joe rogan
probably would have been worse tbh. There is a reason she didn't and that's because she is bad at speaking. I'm not sure if it's imposter syndrome or an extended period of having smoke blown up her arse (probably both) but it would have been a train wreck.

Moving forward the Rogan interview will be a must. It's why the democrats should have gone with Newsom.

She never had a chance.
Ridiculous. She ran an awful, awful campaign. Despite Joe Biden's extreme unpopularity she refused to break from his administration on anything, or even risk saying anything that might upset him. She kept his entire campaign in place, even continuing to run it out of Delaware and keeping on the idiots who kept him in the race until his brain leaked out of his ears on live TV. They brought on Hillary Clinton, the one person who had ever lost an election to Donald Trump, as a consultant on how to beat him. Early in her candidacy she found an attack line that worked, and she picked for her VP basically an attack dog who was the perfect messenger of that line: these are weird people, they want to interfere in your business by doing things like taking away your right to an abortion, and the campaign immediately put a stop to that, essentially took Tim Walz off the media circuit entirely despite early ascendancy with him in the spotlight.

And that's not even getting into her refusal to meaningfully break from the admin on Palestine, an issue which has been animating not just for the muslim community (which is crucial in the midwest swing states) but also a lot of of younger left-leaning voters who just find voting for someone who's complicit in a genocide unconscionable. The Jill Stein vote won't even entirely account for this, just look at the total collapse of voter turnout in New York and how well Trump did there: that's people staying home because they don't want any part of this. Call them idiots all you want, the onus was on the campaign to earn their vote, and instead they courted the Cheneys, to win the vote of the one conservative republican who's still not on board with Trump.

Great post.

Personally if I had to vote I would not be able to get past the fact that she tried to have an innocent man executed when she was DA by withholding evidence that would have exonerated him. That’s evil.

The republican polsters have been supremely confident for about 3 weeks.

The media polls were always going to be encouraging the democrats.

Republicans are more likely to lie to the media/pollsters about who they are voting for, especially in marginal seats. I am not sure you can possibly account for how many people don't give an accurate survey.

The Dems made the classic mistake of not acknowledging people's feelings.

When folks said we FEEL the economy isn't doing well, they sneered well AKSHUALLY it is.

When people said they felt immigration was too high, the Democrats said akshually it is 6.9 per cent lower year on year.

The two most successful Democrat presidents since FDR were Clinton and Obama, both of who acknowledged the feelings of the electorate as real and legitimate first and foremost.
Absolutely spot on

If you haven't read this, buy it now.

Nothing I've ever read, seen or done has helped me understand politics better - and I was on really good terms with some of the most successful political strategists of their generation in the SNP.
The wife has been badgering me about christmas present ideas. This is perfect. cheers

Stocks in all media companies will go gangbusters when the markets open tomorrow.

If the 45th presidency is anything to go by, Trump will drive more subscribers to Fox, CNN, the NYT and the Guardian than any other president in recent history.
CNN is for sale with no buyers already. If you owned one of these companies you'd be looking for the exit sharpish.

I woke up at like 4am a few nights ago, thought about this election for a while, and came to the conclusion it was for the best that I came to terms with the fact that Trump is probably gonna get re-elected.

So that's what I've done.

Its a bit like how I've come to terms with the possibility we could trade pick 2 for 6 and 18, if you replaced 6 and 18 with nukes and madmen.
Half the foretold prophecy from a week ago has been revealed.

And now... what for pick 2?

Foxtel is for sale too, and yet Fox News is about to experience a renaissance.

Warner needs to cut CNN loose just like the Murdochs needs to split up the empire to liberate its value.

Fundamentally, Trump is better for news business than anyone else. Even foreign public broadcasters.

Musk, Pichai, Thiel, Bezos don't count as tech bros?
Quite a few media owners including Bezos and Zuck imo decided that it was in their companies best interest to be on the fence, and/or pretend to be libertarian, than endorse a political candidate. Musk has been copping it for the last four years so not surprising that he supports Trump.

Trump is box office for media but subscribers to mainstream media are down and that trend is not changing any time soon, certainly not with Trump in office. He will post on X and his own platform and call everyone else fake news haha.

Most major NWS shareholders already want to the corporation to sell off its non-financial news services for a profit, given that realestate.com and dow jones elements are the jewel in its crown. Bundling the culture wars involved in sustaining the NY Post, the Oz, The Herald Sun etc together with those companies don't serve any strategic purpose aside from keeping Rupert's archaic dream of a global media empire alive. Hence the Murdoch trust fund cluster****.

it will be broken up and sold off aye.

But Lachlan will get Australia

Ah well. The croocked businessmen, far right christian fanatics, self important tech bros and low brow comedians are now in charge of the most powerful nation in history. What could possibly go wrong?

He's the chosen one, but I'm not convinced Lachlan gives a shit about meddling with governments of the day, like his dad has made a career out of.

Lachlan's one of the most hands off CEO/Chairs of any major NASDAQ company I can think of. He'd rather run some asinine business with no political controversy that lets him go surfing in Bronte most days, and bugger off with Packer to Fiji, rather than deal phone hacking or dominion style bullshit.
