The reason the Vampires bid didn't get up is because... they suck.

Elmer_Judd

Another Association Football board find, Elmer_Judd joined the bid as a rookie. Despite the Vampires going down, Elmer_Judd stuck around, joining the Wonders. He stayed for 3 seasons before moving to the Roys where he won the S33 flag as well as gaining back to back all Sweet FA selections. He’s still active in the league and still kicking about at the Roys. Although at the time of writing, he’s been suspended 🙃

Gosaints12
Gosaints12 may not have understood the concept of a transparent background, yet despite this he managed to get a handful of Qooty games under his belt. Following the bid going down, Gosaints12 managed to find himself a home in the league at the Dragons. He played 9 glorious games and was delisted at the end of the season. It’s been over six months since he was last online, so it looks as though his Qooty career may be over.

Jezmiester40

The man, the myth, the Jez. Jezmiester40 has been a Bear since S22 (except for that one season he was delisted in S24). He won a flag in his first season. He was recruited to the Vamps bid as one of the senior players and was set to be instrumental in the development of rookies. Following the bid failing, he returned to the Bears where he remains to this day.
One thing you’ll learn pretty quickly about Elmer is he is constantly in a state of suspension, it’s a rare week when he is not actually suspended

Definitely a walk down memory line
And I feel the same way now as I do back then- Vampires were robbed.

Also por_please_ya , we weren’t far off joining a season or so later and making Dingster reunion happen a few seasons early and make the still overdue SarahSmiles reunion actually happen!

MC Bad Genius

MC Bad Genius was another one of the rookies recruited for the bid. He also stuck around in the league, managing to notch up games for 4 different clubs in 5 seasons. He found out what it was like to be part of a successful expansion bid in S34 with the Ophidian Old Boys where he played 14 games before being cut. Still active on BigFooty, a return to Qooty isn’t out of the questions

Millky95

The captain and the man fronting the bid, Millky put in an insane amount of work with creating an identity, writing lore, preparing the bid, delivering it and fighting for it. While ultimately unsuccessful, it did manage to rejuvenate his interest in the league. Recruited in season 19 to the Swamprats, Millky quickly established himself, earning three consecutive All SFA spots in seasons 20 through 22. He captained the Rats before a 7 season absence from the league, which ended with the Vamps bid. Since then, he’s rejoined the Bears and is approaching game 200.

PhenomenalV1

One of the league’s all time great characters, PhenomenalV1 was recruited to the Bombers where he won a flag in his first season. Recruited as an established poster to front the bid, Phenom was set to make his league return after three seasons out. When the bid failed, he didn’t immediately rejoin the league, waiting until season 31 where he had a season with the Phoeneix followed by another break before he began his second stint at the Dragons where he currently is playing.

This bid was before my time here but would it be fair to say:

1. The bid when considering Tigerturbulance OOB'S was piss poor?

2. Poor leadership at the top?
I wouldn't say that.

The Hill they had to climb from the start was a cliff, and they had no climbing gear.

If the 2 bids had got in they would have worked and we would have all moved on,

I believe the biggest difference between the OOBs successful bid and the other two was the campaigns run to get them in, not necessarily the quality of the bids and the players listed

The OOB reached out to committee and captains to keep them aware of what we were doing, we went public in a media thread a season out and disclosed as much info as we could and address questions as they arouse. Also we campaigned against the anti expansionists as a side line, this I believe also helped sway people.

That and all the security video I have compiled over the seasons at Kittens and my hot tub party's guaranteed a few votes went our way ;)

I think in the end with the OOB it was an easier sell to say we could handle one new team (agreed though the communication was very good). It’s going back a fair way now but my recollection is the clubs voting no were hesitant on expansion let alone a two club expansion which is the way this was being sold. I do recall some discussions to merge the bids but this wasn’t met with much support from either bid.

No doubt the OOB Bid learnt quite a lot from the two failed bids, particularly around open and responsive communication. IMO the failed bids laid the groundwork. Even then a number of influential folk were not keen.

we got Millky95 in as a highly paid expansion consultant.

I'd say by the result achieved, it was money well spent
