It just goes to show that if you bring intensity a day determination that it creates pressure for the other team, which then pushes the opposition to make mistakes. The twos come out and go berserk, sticking their tackles and relentless with chasing. That's how they wore the Cats down today.

Archer may not be best by disposal but he shuts down his opponents, something that no defender in the ones is doing. I think a defender should be rewarded games by not how many touches they get, but by how much they restrict their opponent.

Goater a bit sloppy, but the same thing. Applies relentless pressure, has good breakaway speed, and can mark.

I know we all rag about Edwards, but there is something there. Presents well, and has pretty good skills for a bloke his size. Persist until he is about 22, then you will know if he will develop.
Good skills? Based on the 1 kick and 1 handball he had? His had more opportunity than many other blokes busting their nut to be on an afl list - delist.

We should be listing Ben Davis end of season with the lack of possibility of losing defenders seasons end. he rarely wastes a kick and doesnt get beaten often. could do a lot worse.

A strong reserves means the club is realigning itself.
It's a positive sign that we've stayed very competitive at VFL level even as availability has ebbed and flowed a little. Hopefully it is a good sign.

Missed it. How did Choggymilkington look? What role(s) did he seem to play, much time up fwd? Thanks

Played a mix of inside mid and a little bit of time up forward. He was probably one of our best with 26 disposals, but like usual he got torched as soon as the ball left the contest.

He is cracking in like he always does, but he looks so stiff and looks to be struggling to cover the ground (worse than usual).

It's interesting in theory yes. But our 3-peat VFL alignment with North Ballarat didn't really translate to much at all.

Critical part is to look at which NMFC players are thriving in the VFL.

At a glance Phillips, Hansen Jr, Bergman and Goater were the North listed players whose performances yesterday offer carryover into our 2024+ senior side.

Didn’t we have a good reserves side heading into our ‘90’s heyday?
