dansa we're not going to overspend on him.........it's the reason we hired Ned Guy.

Back the Club in on this one. I really rate him in case you haven't noticed.

I am the first to admit the club is always much better placed to make these decision than any supporter.

But as a general rule I don't like having a salary cap unbalanced by a single player. I don't think it sends a good message through the team.

But if he does join us, I will look on the positive side and hope he makes the difference.

It is not just our club. If the premiers and also a coach that has won 4 flags are okay with chasing him for similar money I'm convinced I don't know better.

After what's happened with Mihocek he could be a good value type.

Just in case needs to be said: everyone keep your mits off my Berger Boy

:D

Sorry Saintly but I was on the Berger train before you. I love the boy.

I never said replacement...........Marty is a no frills consistent footballer that deserves to be an AFL player.

I'm just keeping you honest :D :p

ps that's just an expression :D of course

I’d rather try keeping Moore and sort out his hamstring issues before even having a think about May.

Probably because I have t seen enough GC games, but really can’t see the hype for May unless it was a second round pick at best. So many other key backmen worth looking at over May for that price.

Why not both {insert Taco Bill meme}
I'm hoping we keep Moore.
Moore, Madgen, Goldsack, Howe, Dunn, Shaz, Reid, maybe Kelly, maybe McLarty, maybe Mihocek. We've had a terrible run with injuries to this part of the field, but how many blokes who can play KPD should we have on our list?

Pendlebury is reported to be on a million a year.

Pendles is also the type who'd probably take a pay cut without making a song and dance about it in the media.

Having listened to his podcast he seems very conscious of hogging the salary cap and what it can do to premiership chances.

But Pendlebury is the Captain, one club player, and will go down as one of the greatest ever for our club. This is exactly why to pay Lynch more or equal to
Pendlebury sends a poor message through team culture in my view.

I actually really want Lynch but the thought of paying him > a million a year concerns me when I consider the age profile of our list. I am starting to come around to the prospect of grabbing a gun defender instead but I do think we still need another forward. If Darcy Moore stays with us and gets his hammy's right it'll go a long way to shoring up our KPP stocks.

I've been thinking all year that we're likely closer to 95% TPP than people assume and if that's the case I'd consider paying Lynch more over a longer period (say $5m over 5 years) but front loading it on a sliding scale (say $1.2m; $1.1m; $1m; $0.9m; $0.8m). Something like $750-800k in a 2023 TPP environment isn't going to hurt anywhere near as much even if we don't see anything like the recent 20% jump. Would also free up some $$$ each season to reapportion to the kids who need re-signing. Might even get away with significantly less if he's assured some external individual sponsorships.

Pendlebury would command a lot more if he was 5 years younger. As a captain, I’m sure Pendles would be more concerned about making the team the best it can be to win a premiership rather than who gets paid more.

^ Yep, Tom Browne just said on Talking Footy that he thinks Lynch goes to Richmond and that Paul Connors has re-taken over negotiations (from whom? Browne didn't go into that detail).

He said we're interested in other players such as Dayne Beams.

Paul Connors taken over from his colleague D'Ozario perhaps? His wife is/was due to give birth in the next month or two I think, which could be why.

I'm not suggesting that he would.

But we persuade players like Pendlebury, Sidebottom, Grundy, De Goey to except unders for the sake of keeping the team together then offer a blow-in significantly more. I don't like it.

And don't forget clubs will soon throw the kitchen sink for our young talent like Stephenson.

Not sure why we are chasing Beams if true. If Lynch goes to the Tigers as expected then they are going to be very very hard to beat for along time. We desperately need another tall forward and if this is true then a massive blow to us

Particularly if Moore also leaves. We will be severely undermanned down back. Why do not we make an offer for Talia or try to even pick up Taylor from the Cats for a year
