The farce is this: players now believe that the art of tackling involves pinning the arms! The raising of arms, to keep hands free to off load the ball, has engrained this into modern techniques. As a current player of a high quality code of football everyone need to have a cup of cement and harden up.

FACTS: Being first to the ball, winning possession off the ground and moving with momentum through a pack will draw a free kick! Players are trying to wrap opponents up around the bicep/torso, as they move with SERIOUS pace, to break from a contest! Of course its going to slip high!!!!

Seriously learn to tackle! The selwoods(all of them), Kerr, shuey etc are the hardest fairest players in the comp and you would want them on your team without a question of doubt. look at shuey clearance and shot on goal on the weekend roved it to perfection. was moving with pace... etc etc etc

Chris Scott was more diplomatic than Alistair 'sorelooser' Clarkeson. But this is a load of BS and im over calls of ducking. SHOULD BE CALLED FISHING: Fishing for a reason that you dont have possession! win the ball first.

So then every player then tackles the opposition high because they know they will then get a free and a fifty?? Because it is surely the player who puts his head over the balls fault, the tackler has no responsiblity to tackle correctly right?

I hope this goes for both teams as well, I'm sure Worsfold would have no problem instructing his team to tackle high and hard if you are going to get a free and a fifty out of it!

No one is complaining about the crude tackle that is high, it's the tackles that are legitimate but are being lifted high due to players dropping to their knees and lifting the tacklers arms.

How come week in week out teams seem to be able to tackle correctly but all of a sudden against the Freegirls they go on a high tackling spree?

Seriously get your heads out of your arses! If the player contributes to the high contact it should be play on and if the tackle is initally correct and is manipulated high the idiots adjudicating are meant to call play on.

If any of the selwoods were what you say "fair" they wouldnt be worried about drawing free kicks every minute of the game instead of just playing the game itself honestly.
Great players no doubt. Would i want them on my team yes. But fairest players in the comp what kind of dribble is this?

HAHA love the kneejerk reactions from a loss. As if players/supporters should stand for attacks on their integrity and honour in the way the game is played... WIN THE BALL FIRST!!!
If you take away the frees that mcintosh gave away with poor rucking technique and the ledger +10/-10 Clearances were a difference of 13! no wonder the difference. ALSO NOTE that shuey has 51 tackles to his name with 4 frees against. its called discipline.

And laugh at the suggestion you dont want them on your team... would rather rowan jones all over again than liam anthony, when shirks the issue on the far wing

Whilst talking bout knee jerk reactions, i think goldy with his 60 odd hitouts in the vfl might have been handy to getting a few clearances..... ROLLS EYES

eagles supporters are and will always be the most one eyed of any fan base, so there is no point in arguing with one. the frees agaisnt mcintosh were a joke with cox holding first and then putting his head into hmacs chest to get the free whilst waving his arms around like a fool. Then the turning point of the game was when they called Anthonys 'throw' - final nail in the coffin

Everytime they look set to score....... whistle. Every time they look to gain clear possession.... whistle.

Who knows if we would have still lost or not, but you can't keep coping game changing decisions ever 5 minutes and expect to be anything but deflated.

The Cox ruck duel - I actually agree with you. But the ump should've ignored probably 2-3 free kicks, total. The throw was not there, a horrible decision - nothing to do with the Eagles though.

Horseshit and you know it, were all 7 of the frees against Buddy paid because of ducking? No, it was poor control. And that's what this is about really, yes there is some ducking going on (within the confines of the rules) but just because it happens a few times per match doesn't mean you can pretend West Coast aren't playing well or that EVERY free is undeserved.

No that was the only one involving Buddy that involved ducking. I also never said it was West Coasts fault as they are doing whats best for their team. However the umps need to be smarter about it and pay nothing
