1994 Preliminary Final against Geelong. I can live with the 1998 GF loss against Adelaide because we were our own worst enemy, kicking poorly in the first half and then being outplayed in the second, but the 1994 Prelim will stick with me forever because as hard as we played and as brilliant as Carey and others were, the result didn't hinge our performances but on the umpiring decisions and in the dying seconds, Ablett mark and goal. The free kick count was 33-13 in Geelong's favour, they kicked 5 goals to nil from free kicks. And then Ablett who was well held by Mickey Martyn all game takes a mark in the goal square from a flukey kick with 5 seconds remaining and boots Geelong into the GF. And the fact that a week later they perform so badly only adds insult to the injury. 22 1/2 years later and I'm still gutted.

Off field, the first day or two of the Carey/Stevens entanglement was a pretty low point for my club. I think the Herald Sun devoted 20 odd pages on the first day. I'm not sure 9/11 garnered that kind of coverage from that insipid tabloid.

'99 prelim.

Though I can't think of any day as bad as it was for the roys fans when their club was killed off (Yeah, I know they still play in the ammos, not quite the same).

Losing the 2006 prelim after being ahead at half-time and trailing by 4 measly points in the dying minutes. Probably would have beaten Sydney in the grand final.

Many Crows supporters will tell you they felt physically sick that afternoon.

I remember that, that burns. I remember going to sleep after that game which was around 5 or 6pm and not waking up till the next day around 8am/

I normally only average 6 hours of sleep.

I didn't list the 77 GF Replay as it wasn't one of my "worst days". We never looked like winning it. You may not have noticed I also did not list either the 1980 or 2003 GF losses either, as we never looked likely in either game. Being a long standing Pies supporters we have lost so many GF's in my life time that I can choose to discriminate.

I've never supported a side that drew a GF but It seems to me it would be an awful feeling if you lost the replay. Having you nerves on edge for that long. Guess it's a personality thing though.

My worst ever day at a game of footy was Round 1, 2008 @ Docklands
Western Bulldogs v Adelaide

Game was pretty tight for most the day, but Adelaide did get to a 3 goal lead early in the third quarter

Then I got a phone call from my mum - My grandpa had just passed away

It wasn't unexpected news, as such, but I was pretty numb for the rest of the game

Then I watched Brad Johnson in his 300th game kick 3 final quarter goals in time on (to make it 5) to put the Dogs two goals up

The other thing about this day was I had to then head to work after this match (it was an early afternoon start), so after watching the Johnson love in I thought 'stuff this - I gotta go to work anyway' - so it was one of the rare times I went to leave early

By the time I had made it down from level 3 of Docklands via the ramps to the ground floor, Adelaide had kicked another goal and suddenly Nathan Bock had a mark and set shot to put us back in front! Holy crap! I've called it too early, I should have had faith, this game might not end so badly in the end anyway

Bock missed

It wasn't until I got into the car to drive to work that it finally all caught up with me and I shed a tear for my pop

wow

there are a number of things I don't understand

1) what is with the 5000 person choir in the background when no one on stage is singing live?

2) what did they do to Richmond's song?

3) Surely Adelaide never said 'Camry Crows' in the 'Pride of SA' song? Surely?!

Musicmen definately played their grand final.
"Let's take the best song in the league and turn it into the worst!"

some of the alt versions were ok - I liked North Melbourne's borderline reggae arrangement, and the banjo-twanging Freo version was kinda clever

but the Richmond attempt was absolute dog-shit. The Sydney song wasn't much better

Also had to giggle at Lou Richards' attempt at lip-syncing to something that he clearly had recorded before-hand. Those half-beat rests totally threw him out

Excepting off field. ... do you really need to ask?

Watching Eagles vs North Melbourne at Blundstone the racist abuse towards Nic Nat.

Watching families with kids that had Nic Nats jerseys on having to leave because of it.....

Disgraceful !!!
