Your a year late on that joke mate. It must disgust Freo fans immensely that Masten proved himself this year, just when you thought you had something up on us. Hope it was good while it lasted

Drafting hasn't been our problem? Rubbish. I would think Drum is perfect evidence of this. Regardless of trading, we have a huge hole in our list because we wasted top picks on Drum, Dunn, Murphy, Polak, Schammer and then Campbell, Collard etc if you look at second rounders. The last few years have been better as we've eased Smart out of the frame. Apart from that our drafting has been extremely ordinary.

Find someone who didn't have Polak top 5 that year.
Find someone that didn't rate Dunn when drafted (dual under 18 AA).
Find someone who actually rates that draft where we got Murphy and Dunn at all? We also got Mundy where people swore we should have drafted Matt Moody (remember him?).
Collard was crap and every team has early picks that don't turn out (McDougall anyone).

The fact is we mortgaged the farm by grabbing 'stars' from other clubs. Go count the draft picks we gave away for Headland, Carr, Croad, Solomon and Tarrant.

Solomon is a great example. I wouldn't mind Riemers and Houli about now in the Freo squad.

I'd compare our drafting well to most teams.

Drum is your classic jack of all trades and master of none..He's too slow of the middle, lacks prescence to be a key and his kicking isn't that great.

HOWEVER....As a third player up he may offer something and let's face it pick 49 is rubbish...I'd much prefer we took a punt on another poorly performing former high draft pick, that or even some kind of pick upgrade.

One day to go...Potentially we may take those two late picks and do something with them yet!

Agreed, Think we win this one by quite a bit. Trading a pick we wouldnt have used anyway for a player who in the worst case will be able to fill in till one of young defenders are ready. Really happy with this trade.

Surround him with players such as Scarlett, Milburn, Mackie and Enright and I reckon he'll do alright. The ball wont be coming into the backline quite as quick or as often as what he's used to.

I am thinking we have done some very good business snaring Drum (pun intended) with pretty much a rubbish pick.
