Looking at the live scores at the top of this webpage just then and realizing I need glasses. One I swore was for NRL (it was actually NBL) was a progressive score between Sydney and Adelaide 56-48. I was thinking, when were the Adelaide Rams resurrected and why are they engaged in such a high-scoring match against the Sydney Roosters?

Was watching Deutsche Welle last night, and their embedded Ukrainian correspondent was an Australian girl who looked really familiar

Looked her up and it turns out she’s Hannah from Neighbours back in the 90s

"Yeah Sean Parker was actually involved in Facebook during the early stages"
"Sean Parker?"
"The guy who developed Napster"
".......?"
"Napster was the precursor to Limewire"
".......?"

Kids these days don't know how hard it was procuring music and other content from the web using a P2P filesharing network.

Yeah kids and their bloody Apple music/Spotify, I used to get music the old fashioned way: from file sharing!

and you never was sure what the actual file was until you opened it up

I recall once downloading a live version of Jeremy by Pearl Jam. It turned out to be these drunk ******* Americans singing along to the recording, pretty funny in hindsight but it shit me at the time, it took ages to download etc
i got some doozy spyware which was a bastard to remove

those where the days of download limits aswell, i had cable back in 2000 with a download limit of 3gb, it was expensive once you went past 3gb

Two memories that stand out for me. For a long time I thought the song 'Blue Monday' by New Order was by Rammstein, as it was incorrectly labeled.
The other one was 'Got Some Teeth' by Obie Trice, which was correclty labelled, however it was just the chorus played repeatedly for 3.5 minutes.

Also finding a pic of Lucy Lawless topless, what a day that was.

Buy CD. Rip CD to MP3s. Share MP3s. Use other shared MP3s to burn your own CDs up to 80 minutes worth of music. Kids these days don't even know about having an iPhone with 60,000 songs on it. You just use your phone to stream everything.

CDs took over from cassettes in sales about 1990, then it was pretty much exclusively CDs/DVDs until about 2005. Digital downloads, streaming etc. combined passed CDs in 2010.

That period in the early 2000s happened so quickly. Using computers to get music on and off CDs went from being new tech to being obsolete in a hurry. I don't think I've owned a computer with a disc drive in it for over a decade.

"Ohhhhhh THAT guy"
