I took my mum to their Hell Freezes Over concert and found the exception to the general rule that drugs improve everything. I enjoyed Joe Walsh's two songs though.

Can concur, I saw Coldplay smelling like Otto’s jacket and was bored out of my mind (over 20 years ago, seems they put on more of a show these days)

Cold play are not your type and never will be.

GA tickets to see Kid Laroi at RAC Arena are $200. The best tickets are $350.

I remember seeing Foo Fighters, Oasis, Green Day plus a heap of good local acts at Rock It festivals and tickets were $60 or so. Times have definitely changed since the mid to late 2000s.
I reckon my first BDO ticket was about 80 bucks in 2000. For 12 hours and countless acts

I saw U2, BB King and the Weddos in 1989 and got change from $40.

What was a casual wage in 1989? I remember a festival ticket being $50-100 and getting paid $15-20/hr.

I think the last one I went to was $150. Was definitely over $100 which seemed expensive at the time. I imagine Metallica at Optus Stadium is a few hundred now.

I tried learning a Green Day song on guitar and it just reminded me of the Ramones, a lot, the way they riff, dunno, I'd say Billie Joe is a big fan. Plus they have covered them a bit I believe.

I never vibed with them at all, the pop punk stuff like them, Blink 182 and the like not my jam, might be common for a metal head though.
A couple of months ago I went to Offspring and Rage against the machine cover bands
Cover bands not normally my thing but we are pretty starved for entertainment down our way so will take what I can get

Anyway they were great ( and I knew the nightclub owner so free cocktails all night 😁)

Things I walked away with :

A sore neck from headbanging
Head banging isn’t as good without hair
Industrial deafness

Forgot how awesome Offspring songs were , think I first saw them in 1995 at Perth BDO Fremantle oval , was sick

Rages lyrics are exceptional, deep and challenging

And finally, got some street cred from the young crew for a solid performance in the mosh pit for 4 hours, old boys can still rock , just only a few times a year instead of a few times a week like the good old days 🤟

Rufus Du Sol not far behind, $175 GA and $200 plus for better tickets. By comparison, Pearl Jam $280 for GA but dropping for the nosebleeds and higher for best seats, Metallica $110 for nosebleeds and $300 plus for good seats. I can understand these nostalgia acts with 10 or more albums behind them putting on stadium shows charging like this, particularly when their target audience is comfortably middle class now, but someone like Laroi, with one album, needs to pull his head in (at least his management should). His target audience are surely being priced out.

And the last BDO was $180 with the promise of a two-hour Pearl Jam set (also included Arcade Fire, Snoop Dog, Primus, Tame Impala and more. I remember thinking that was pushing the limits of what was acceptable. Oh naive me.

I know people that will fly to Melb/Syd just to see a big name act if they aren't coming to Perth which basically turns it into a $1000+ exercise. Each to their own but seeing Taylor Swift at the MCG with 100,000 people dressed like teenage girls isn't on my bucket list. If it was a once in a lifetime thing like Queen at Wembley sure. But then I've flown to Melbourne just to watch WC lose Grand Finals so people who aren't into sports probably think that's dumb.

I watched a shitty time travel movie the other day, in which they travel back in time to... 2003
Caddo Lake?

funnily enough I was thinking about 2003 a few hours ago.

Kid Laroi (mentioned earlier) was born then, possibly at the same hospital my dad was then in IC

Yeh I’m going, hope they don’t cancel again , was pissed off last time

Drug Rehabilitation- pffffttt !

Isn’t that par for the course for rock musicians ?!

That got announced on the morning of the 2019 GF, I thought it was a bad omen for the Tiges!

Was a not massive pink Floyd fan as they before my time.

Went to see Roger Waters ...twice was really impressed .

The Wall? That one was meant to be epic

Rufus are closer to their prime than Metallica aged bands.
Rufus put on a good show they have more than enough songs for a set list.

Going next year.
