Thoughts on Nathan Brown

I thought he did well tonight but have read in another thread people don't agree.

Bit hard to tell on the television. Stats were low but that doens't show the full picture for a defender.

How did everyone else see it?

what did he do that was bad... his endeavour is great. mybe people want him to be more like scarlett and rack up big numbers.. he deserves his spot in the side.

Once again, he restricted Pavlich, just like he did 2 years ago.

You can't expect to keep Pavlich under 15 posessions and goal less, but if someone had of said he would kick 2 goals, and have 24 stats pre game, and a disposal efficiency of 54%, you would have taken that and ran.

The disposal efficiency is the big thing here, shows he was under pressure from the likes of Brown every time he went near the ball.

Add the fact that more then half of those disposals would have been in midfield when Brown wasn't on him, and Brown was awesome tonight.

The reason why Presti isn't playing, is simply we are trying to get games into Reid and Brown before the finals this year.

Had a great game in my mind, did his job better then most expected.

Thought it was a typical Nathan Brown game...he hardly touched the ball all night. By the same token, he was by no means poor either.

Will definitely make way for Presti at some stage, but the more games we can get into him the better. Has a way to go but is finally showing he is going in the right direction.

Been fabulous since returning. Nothing but an asset for our club. It's nice to know we have a full-back for the next 10 years.

Presti jnr. in the making...he has done everything asked of him...I am getting very excited about the Brown-Reid-Cloke-Dawes KPP future. We are very lucky that Presti can be managed through this season like tonight and replaced by Brown. Most sides lose a key defender like this and they're in trouble. However, we need Presti because we are young defensively and need him v Geelong. I hope injuries/soreness dictate changes because the outs will be unlucky.

No one could have stopped Pav's snap, and his second goal resulted from a defensive breakdown. I hardly noticed Pav all night, well done to Brown.

You are hoping for injury/soreness?
They will be unlucky but they will know that they are moving in the right direction. They will also know that Presti is a freak, Im sure he has taught them a lot and they wouldn't begrudge him his deserved spot in the team.
Brown is VERY good defensively and Reid is looking like he will end up the COMPLETE defender. We are in great shape for the future. Go Pies!!

Brown and Reid both have done their jobs, we have been leaking goals from our medium and small defenders.

Maxwell had 3-4 kicked on him by half time he tightened up in 2nd half a lot and got on top.

Toovey had 3 kicked on him last week against North not sure about this week as he had a few rotated through him.

H.O'brien I heard in commentary last week has had more goals kicked against him then any collingwood defender.

Shaw has given away 1 or 2 a week.

So in all it is not the lack of presti making us leak it's our rebounding defenders being caught out of position on the turn over.

In fairness I think the goals were leaked tonight because our zone broke down and Fremantle found loose football in the corridor.

Yep agree, our mids didn't stick to the structures in the second quarter.

If you told me two years ago about how Brown and Reid are now playing, I would have told you that you mixed up their names.

While Reid seems to be confident and getting involved, Brown seems on doing the defensive stuff....which he did ok tonight.

Not trying to get too far from the thread but I've been really surprised about the improvement in Reid. His kicking is a feature now.... i just cant get over it. If he keeps that up, there's going to be more than enough flair in the back half. Brown can just be a solid defender. I think he'll do ok.

However.... I think Presti will come in for Nath to stand next to the Pod for next weekend's big one. Thats my prediction..
