No doubt about it. From the moment you see him look over his shoulder to assess the position of the player behind you know what's going to happen. Could've taken possession and had an open shot on goal but first instinct was to try and get a free kick by any means necessary. Not a footballer's arseh*le.

Where in the rulebook does it say that if the player with the ball initiates contact it's play on?

Onus is on the tackler not to get into his back. It's a free kick, same way Selwood was constantly getting high tackle free kicks for bringing opponents arms up with his shoulder shrug move.

But that's just from a technical point of view. Personally i think he should have ran on and tried to kick the bloody goal!!

He didn't cannon backwards, he stopped.
He's allowed to stop, it was no free kick, play on, correct call.

As soon as he jumps, grabs the ball, he curls up and falls to the ground.

Push in the back is supposed to be when the player tackling does it. Not when the player with the ball hunches over and falls face down.
