TiFmedia Sweet FA Power Rankings - Season 38

Yes welcome back Ladies & Gentlemen to the TiFmedia Sweet FA Power Rankings for the long awaited update for Season 38.

As promised, we here at TiFmedia have once again undertaken a deep analytical analysis and crunched the numbers to employ critical thought and possibly even some light string theory (and some other shit you probably wouldn't even understand but just know that I'm doing that, and heaps of it, whatever 'that' is) over the Sweet FA landscape as we've assessed every facet of every player and club across the league to identify precisely who's moving and just who's shaking in Season 38.

The TiFmedia algorithm has been hard at work over the season let me tell you, and has been fastidiously crunching the numbers these past few weeks to give us the hot off the press, definitive Sweet FA Power Rankings for each club's endeavours in Season 38.

But don't just take my word for it, here's what some of the Sweet FA's biggest names and AnUltimateRessie had to say these past few seasons...

Great work as always, TiF.
Well atleast we didn’t come last.
Well written TIF. Great acknowledgement of tony too. Up the bears
My favorite serious media this season, subscribed.
Agreed - very good.
Gotta hand it to you @TheInjuryFactory
I'm just happy to be an up and comer again 🙏
TOTY @TheInjuryFactory and very likely incorporating MOTY in one objective package.
Bravo 👏🏻
It took a lot of my life to read all of that
I can't wait to get unnecessarily angry at 'the algorithm' when the Wonders are listed as anything but #1
This reference totally goes over my head
I am still awake at 1am on a work night because I can not contain how EXCITED I am for todays edition of TiFmedia Sweet FA Power Rankings - Season 37
Really missed a trick to not do the Smartys Power Rankings didn’t I?
I've always approved of TheInjuryFactory media. 👏
Tired of being a pawn for this megalomaniac
Tif = media :goat:

So as you have no doubt come to love and admire our complex, state of the art algorithm which tells no lies, leaves no stones unturned and offers nowhere to hide for clubs and players alike, you would know now that we have accurately assessed the quantitative & qualitative value of each club, and applied our one of a kind, patented, real-time Power Ranking for each based on every element of this fearsome, unforgiving competition.

From posting prowess, to leadership, recruitment growth and sustainability to identifying their current long term Qooty form, the TiFmedia Sweet FA Power Rankings are the much anticipated answer to the question of which clubs are thriving, who is surviving and who is absolutely battling to string a coherent sentence together and put it together on the park to boot.

However this season, we will be revealing the TiFmedia Sweet FA Power Rankings in reverse order and will abstain from a lengthy club by club write up** in favour of releasing the rankings in full, with a summary of the major movers and shakers once all clubs have been ranked.

**Club rationale available by request.

THIS is the only Sweet FA Power Rankings worth consulting for Season 38.

As always... If you disagree with the algorithm, you are wrong.

I'm just happy to do my part for the construction of the beez lounge at Warriors HQ. Admittedly I didn't do much but I am in the photos so at least I can say I was there.

#2 Gumbies FFC

Up two places from Season 37, we find Falconista's Gumbies in an unlikely 2nd spot in the TiFmedia Sweet FA Power Rankings.

Chat Pile
to what I can only assume is an abandoned warehouse full of pre loved mannequins (AKA retired)

This time last season, the Gumbies enjoyed a relatively quiet off season on the acquisition front post premiership, yet they did add some welcomed depth back in with the return of popular former teammate Brick Loosener, and managed to retain their premiership list while they were at it.

This season they lost some rusted on experience with two club champions Chat Pile and former skipper and soon to be Hall of Famer Barrybran departing to the Warriors, both moves fielding surprisingly little fanfare or kerfuffle from outsiders. Chat Pile has been a super addition to the squad since returning from hiatus in various guises, but Baz in particular is a body blow to lose the club’s spiritual leader and player responsible for lifting the club out of the perennial ‘fold the Gumbies’ debates and into credibility and ultimately, premiership success as a mentor to current skipper Falconista.

But there’s a calmness exuded by the club in Season 38 that’s validated by the formerly big four, now big three of irrepressible Captain Falconista, the enigmatic beez and the ever grouchy GWS Goose seeming to take things up a notch in S37 , with Baz arguably having arguably taken a back seat on his way out the door. This change of the guard culminated in Falconista fulfilling his promise and summiting to claim his first beez Trophy, a sign of the growth and impact the skipper now holds over not only the club, but the broader league. There are few more powerful contributors across the competition now than the Gumbies skipper.

Not to undercut the loss of Baz that would no doubt be keenly felt at the club, but with the emergence of cats_09 and the contributions of clubmen types in Brick Loosener, CatToTheFuture & Dory_77 to name a few, the club gets more than enough oomph from the big three and their support cast for the House of Gumby to hold their own on the engagement front.

Did the Gumbies miss the trick to sell themselves as a destination for those seeking premiership glory, despite the reality that it's probably another 16 or so seasons now until they do it again? Perhaps. Yeah probably.
But mercenaries are capable of doing that math, and the plasticines have never been shameless self-promoters even at the best of times.

Unable to recapture the greatness of their Season 36, the Gumbies slumped to a four game losing streak to round out S37 with a premiership hangover that saw them meekly bundled out of the finals in an Elimination Final against the Dragons to the tune of 34 points. But they look a different animal in Season 38 having already bested their 7-1-6 record last season with two games to play. Their final two opponents for the home and away season being the Roys and Rats, both clubs currently out of contention for finals which bodes well for the Claymation nation.

The Gumbies improved on their lack of All-SFA selections in S37 with skipper Falconista earning a much deserved berth on the Half Back flank. Probably (undoubtedly) should have been All-SFA skipper I would have thought? But what would I know.

Once again the Gumbies split full forward duties, and once again it cost their spearhead(s) a shot at the Fred, but with 3 players inside the top 18 for goalkicking in S37 (13th Chat Pile, 16th Barrybran & 18th rye), the club performed admirably in front of the sticks.

Mobbs Medal wise, surprisingly GWS Goose was completely uncompetitive for once, finishing on 9 votes and in equal 32nd place to lead the club, closely followed by cats_09 in 36th spot.

The beez Trophy proved to be the pinnacle for the club in Season 37, with skipper Falconista dominant in victory with an almost 350 vote lead on the runner up to announce his arrival among the upper echelon of the competition. Lieutenants GWS Goose & beez markedly improved their performances from the previous season, with the Goose leaping 10 places into 30th and beez polling more than quadruple his S36 vote tally to shift almost 40 places into 31st overall. But the big improver was cats_09, whose votes increased ten fold on their S36 result, improving from 100th overall to equal 71st alongside teammate Brick Loosener.

In S38 the algorithm appears bullish about their prospects, as they look well placed to improve on their awards haul with skipper Falconista arguably the third ranked Ruckman in the comp, GWS Goose in striking distance of a general forward selection on 50 majors for the season, and cats09 around the top 30 overall for DT points. You'd have to assume Falconista will once again poll strongly in the beez, particularly in a very weak season on the media front.

The lion’s share of their ranking prowess of course originates with their all-conquering skipper, but with their impressive resurgence on the qooty field on S38 the 4th placed Gumbies look primed for another assault on the Sweet FA Finals and likely with the double chance. Now sure, that gives them the likely chance of straight sets and a graceful shit of the bed, but they can do so with the comforting memory of a recent premiership not far from their rear view.
