I regret us making Dudkins head of recruitment. We had three years of wasted draft picks.

And I don't regret not letting Port wear their old jumper, but I'm happy for them to wear it in Heritage round once a year.

I agree totally (especially about Dudkins!)

Also, the OP talked about myths. I'm glad this year we seem to be busting the myth of no Buckley, no Pies.

Barry Hall for whacking Matt Mcguire, even though it didn't cost us, it was just a stupid undisciplined thing for a captian to do in a prelim. Could have easily cost us the flag.

Trading Pick #3 for Pick #8 and Steve McKee, what a difference Pav would make to our side.

Taking Richard Cole instead of Nick Dal Santo

Not prioritising a ruckman, when Troy Simmonds was on the market

Not going after Graham Polak as part of the Tarrant deal

The belief of many of the clubs players, past and present, that they are above the law. Benny isnt the first Eagle to have run in with the law.
Also the way the Eagles tend to cop whatever crap the AFL throws at them on the chin, without putting up a fight. At least that's how it appears sometimes.
Also, that one. We're amongst the 3 or 4 richest clubs in the league, and yet, we never seem to throw our weight around, even to defend ourself.

I understand what Dalton was trying to do by inviting Robert Walls to go thru the club, but the result was always inevitable. Walls is too small minded to ever simply be able to say "sorry, I was wrong". What should have happened was the Eagles contact the AFL, tell em to fix the issue, the AFL contact the paper in question and demand an apology on behalf of the Eagles players tarred unjustly, or Walls and the paper lose their media credentials with the AFL.

Collingwood would have gone down that path. And they would have been right to do so in this instance.

PS: As an aside BK, I dont have a problem with the Eagles wearing the SoO jumper for the 70's Heritage Round. I wouldnt have a problem with the Docker's doing so either. Victoria and South Australia are not the only 2 states in Australia with a long, proud Aussie Rules tradition. But we dont really get to celebrate it, due to a lack of SoO competition and because of what the AFL has done to other competitions over the past 10-15 years. Well, here's your chance to celebrate that history. It's a one off, and remember this: The Eagles cant afford bad media, they wouldnt be doing this out of a sense of arrogance or superiority. They simply cant afford to have the AFL ringing them up again...

Its a one off, and it is what it is: A tribute. Nothing more, nothing less.

Sorry to derail all, back to the excellent subject at hand. :)

I'm a Dockers fan, and I have no qualms with the Eagles wearing the SOO jumper. WA footy history should be represented in the AFL, and if we don't remember it, it will end up being forgottten.

As for things that I regret Freo doing - well, the one that tore my heart out the most - was trading Winnie Abraham. He was my favourite player for the Dockers, and when he left, for that chump Stuart Anderson, I was pretty sad. But it was good for him to win a premiership, so I was happy for him, even though he wasn't playing for Freo.

The veale deal was a dodgy episode under a dodgy draft/trade policy and although I was stoked to get Rawlings at the time I think now that it was bad ethics and we were probably lucky to get the situations that ended up eventuating.

- Cheating the salary cap
- Not cheating the salary cap even more and keeping Aaron Hamill
- Using high draft picks on Kris Massie, Murray Vance, Luke Livingstone, Trent Sporn, Simon Wiggins, Adam Chatfield
- Trading to get Stephen O'Reilly
- Trading to get Corey McKernan
- Naming a grandstand at our home ground after John Elliot
- Building the Legends stand (arguably the worst place to watch sport in the history of sport)

Mark Blake - The bloke is absolute crap but is getting pumped up by the media through the odd chance he does something OK! Honestly look at all the mistakes he's made, and then the things he's done well, a couple of good taps here and there. I'm just afraid its going to take the club a couple of years to realize...

Trading Moloney to melbourne :(. But i guess ottens is starting to string some good games together.

The West Coast draft in 1994. Six draftees and one trade who played 38 games betwen them, of which Ian Downsborough (subsequently traded to Port Adelaide) played 20 !
