I'm just reading the Faith posts. History is not strong with these fellows.
A Sydney version of Tambling and a 22 is what I'm hearing and it's a no go.
Broken legs don't work as well as they did prior nor do they heal fast, you have no clue what your getting on the other side.
Of course you do, as long as your medical due diligence is thorough enough ......we have enough sports science expertise to make the correct judgement here

Nothing repairs the same and if you've been a party to medical management you know their is a lot of shamanism involved presented as certainty up front which in the aftermath fades away. Due diligence doesn't make them magicians.
We could use some magicians, unfortunately they are out of the country and unwilling to train here without a large enough group demand.

If we did end up with rohan I'm tipping an influx of swans posters telling us he will never be the same and glad we got rid of him.
If you do get him I would wish him all the best, he is a ripper of a bloke. Would be devastated if he left but he is one bloke I would love to see come back from injury and make it..............hopefully with the swans

The good news is:
The medical report that the swans received on him was that he will be fine. Running in November with an eye to round 1 but most likely a slow start to the year. He will also loose none of his pace. He beats Jetta over 20m.

Bad news

CEO Andrew Ireland has said he is off limits. And he rarely changes his mind

thanks guys if it wasn't for you would'nt know what to do, entertaining me since i broke my finger. :)

I spent the last three days stuck on the couch with a nasty ankle injury, but I'm not thanking any of you guys for forcing me to spend my time off reading this abomination of a thread :p

In fact, if I see Tippett any time soon I'm going to kick with with my injured foot!!!!

What is Rohan's contract status?

Would he then be able to be traded by GWS as a pre-listed player? Or does this expire after this year?
The GWS ability to sign uncontracted players expires long before the PSD. Heck, depending upon which AFL official you talk to they didn't actually have that ability this year.

What pick did you give up for Armstrong? I'm interested..

You gave pick 28 for Mattner.. Hardly paying overs for a player like him who has gone on to play 115 games in 5 seasons (he has missed 1 game), finished 3rd in the Best & Fairest and had very good years there, and is now a Premiership player.. And we know how the Swans supporters like to talk up "but he's a premiership player".. On another pedestal altogether, aren't they?

Yeah fair point it was Lewis Johnston (pick 14) at worst that is a win win trade

Never said we paid overs, was making the point that we had built up trade credits

You could argue

Scott Stevens = Adelaide Win

Tony Armstrong/ Lewis Johnston =/<Adelaide - won't know for 2- 3 years but could argue Johnston has the bigger upside

Mattner/ Pick 28 (Andy Otten) =/< Swans

Pick 28 was given to Port for Brad Symes so you owe us big time :(

Yeah yeah we know....everyone but white is off limits. Record....broken....playing.

3. He refuses to sign with club that drafts him against his wishes, goes to court for restraint of trade and wins an open and shut court case, forever altering AFL trading and drafting.

AFL is terrified of that one being tested, so don't expect a club where he doesn't want to be to draft him.
Nothing open and shut about it. The terms of the draft nomination form clearly state that he could end up going anywhere, subject only to the club that draft him meeting his specified salary terms.

Then again, if he wants to sit out of football for 2-3 years, waiting for the court case to be heard, then that's up to him and his manager...

your CEO has already been proven to be a bit of a goose when it comes to making statements.

I'd take what Ireland says with a grain of salt if I was you.

remember, the guy wants

Keep all premiership players
Keep all promising young players
Use all selections in the draft

Trade forKurt Tippett….

He is a bit like Jeff Kennett, without the credentials...

remember which manager we are talking about.

Clarke played 21 games for Brisbane the previous year. I would agree that at the time pick 6 and 21 was relatively high, but we needed a ruckman.
He was in my list of trades that you could say we won after the fact, due to him playing over 100 games for us, and picks 6 and 21 being Cupido and Scott Stevens (who ended up playing for us anyway).
Any time you pick up a 100+ game player you've had a trade win - or at the very least, you can't be seen to have lost. A 100+ game player for picks 6 & 21 is a massive win, no matter who those picks were used to select.

Pick 28 was given to Port for Brad Symes so you owe us big time :(
How do Sydney owe us big time, for an act of stupidity by the Adelaide traders? Sydney gave us a fair price for Mattner. It's not their fault that Adelaide then chose to piss it up against the wall by trading for Symes. You can argue that Port owe us big time, but not Sydney.

You clearly don't know Andrew Ireland's background!!

Remember Brisbane 01- 03 - he was one of the architects of one of the best teams in AFL history.

(not saying the Swans are in the brisbane bracket but he certainly has the credentials)
