Yes I agree with you that Tippett & his manager are in trouble along with AFC, but how the hell do you see Sydney are in trouble? They didn't make a secret deal with Tippett, AFC did.

If Sydney were aware of the gentlemans agreement, which is non binding by the AFL, and tried to use it as leverage against the Crows, then I would say Sydney in some small way have their hands dirty as well.

The fact Chapman kept reitterating that he will come onto 5AA after this is all over and answer any question on the issues, makes me believe the club know they won't be found guilty of anything, and have done this to avoid a PR disaster at the trade table.

I would be very surprised if we got out of this scott-free, it sounds to me though that the AFC is happy to cop what is coming their way and that its nothing to worry about too much, eg a $200-300k fine, plus maybe a loss of a draft pick.

I wonder whether the AFL came to us late in the week and struck a deal, requesting that if we come clean with it all, they will go lenient on us. I suspect the AFL knew something was up and were worried that if something like this went through, then more agents would attempt to hold football clubs to ransom with their star players, forcing clubs into signing such lop-sided agreements. If the AFL make an example of the manager and maybe the player, then they wont have to worry too much about such deals ever surfacing again.

At the end of the day, as much as we criticise the club for agreeing to such a deal, I remember 3 years ago when this board was almost unanimous in that we should do EVERYTHING possible to keep Kurt. The club was stuck between a rock and a hard place, in hindsight they most definitely should have let Kurt go to the Gold Coast, but at the time the were stuck between fans, long starved of a gun KPF, and a manager/player demanding the world. I suspect in the end we gave in, accepting this 2nd contract, thinking that we were a good chance to challenge for a premiership the next year and that potentially we could convince Kurt to stay.

No matter what comes of this, I believe its time for Trigg to step down and allow Nigel Smart to take the reigns. In fact I suspect that as a part of our deal with the AFL, there was agreement that Trigg, as the CEO at the time of the agreement, would step down and that had Reid still been our football manager, he too would have to step down.

Been off a few hours and pleased to see a few people starting to back the club.

As i said this morning plenty to play out yet, but i feel we are on the front foot.
We took the initiative away.. We put him in the PSD, he would have probably got to Sydney anyway.. The club would have a much better idea of the likelihood of that..

This was one better.. Sure we will get something (most likely a fine I think) but this is hopefully a big middle finger to Tiprat and Belcher..

A Natalie Ireland is listed amongst the employees on the Velocity website
Yeah it is, but some say they're not related, some say they are..
Either way, Ireland and Blucher are mates so his wife working there also is negligible..
Still going to help out his buddy..

I thought I heard Rowey say there is no connection. The last names are coincidental.

Yet she used to work for Andrew Ireland Sports Promotion putting up website reports for the Swans? and also if you do a quick google, then under the Brisbane Lions member banner that listed members, there is an Andrew Ireland followed by a Natalie Ireland...

There are two links to Andrew Ireland right there.

You don't think offering complete unders for him while reportedly making him your highest paid player aint sus? It the main reason people started to question this whole trade in the first place.

I think he & his manager has shafted both clubs, sure Sydney would have known some sort of agreement was in place, Sydney were offering what they were prepared to give, not just a second rnd pick ( I know it was unders ). It was AFC that went to the AFL, I can't see why they would do that, what advantage waould they get from doing that?

I honestly hope he gets de-registed along with his manager, but to say Sydney should lose their 1st rnd pick is just silly.

Hmm, I should have fact checked, before quoting Rowey. My bad.

I think the opposite. I think we instigated the investigation to get the trade done. I think the AFC know they are in the right and that it was in fact nothing more than a gentlemen's agreement which was noted (this doesn't make a gentlemen's agreement enforceable). This isn't a contract so it's not in breach of anything. I seriously doubt that the AFL would go around chasing every handshake that occurred.

What I think is happening is that we are "showing up" Blutcher's, Sydney's and Tippett's obstinance that we need to honour the agreement, so we can get a fair trade (if we get time).

cant trade a deregistered player ;)

And you would trust Rowey?

Natalie Irelands previous employment was with

Andrew Ireland Sports Promotions Swans Reserves' reports for website 2004 - 2010. (from Velocity Sports website)

Purely coincidental that Natalie has the same surname as Andrew Ireland, Swans CEO .

The only reason that Rowey finally said something accurate (all be it two months after myself) was that he was used to air the information publically. He will always be 50% of dumb and dumber.

Yes, we're talking about draft tampering and whilst the AFC and Tippett signed the agreement, Sydney have clearly sought to profit from it. I doubt Sydney will be hit particularly hard, but it would not surprise is Tippett is barred from being traded to/selected by them.

I suspect the AFL will want this over and done with as soon as possible, with minimal fuss, they don't want this to drag out and I don't think they'll want to deregister Tippett, merely suspend him for 5 matches. We will be allowed to trade Tippett, under the close eye of the AFL, I suspect the AFL will want to prove that their trade period does work and that players and clubs don't require such backdoor deals to be done. Our punishment will largely be financial and potentially the loss of our pick 20.

Disagree, how about AFC being forced to give Sydney their 1st rnd pick for F****** us around. Same logic
no its not the same logic as the crows dont end up winners there. and i assume that was a typo, if there has been any copulating around it hasnt been by the crows by ANY reports

Good investigation work Nikki! I thought about doing it but gave up before I started.

Did Caro happen to mention what Tippett would be up to next year? Got a bad feeling one of either us or GC will have a crack now at him before trade period ends should this get the all clear.
