I don't mind it at all though Kerry. Maybe the monogram could be edited to include BBFC.

Just to elaborate, the colours bare no resemblance to the Bears (bahaha see what I did there..), the insignia is the Fitzroy Lion, changing the monogram to BBFC is not a major representation when the Bears colours and insignia is gone.

Not looking for an argument on it though thats for sure.

Yeah, I get it. From memory, this was our Fitzroy heritage guernsey from a few years back, so a similar jumper used full time would be Brisbanified somewhat.

This is off Fidgie's Stalkbook page. Cool. :p

Because fitzroy was a powerhouse on the field weren't they.

Come on boys.

It's bad karma going down this path. What good does it do arguing about who was shitter a couple of decades ago?

"The Bears were crap, har har"

"Oh yeah, well Fitzroy were even more crappier"

"Were not"

"Were so"...etc..etc

We've got enough issues as a club right now without dredging up old grievances.

Peace brothers.:)

Posting surveys to 24,000 members would cost probably in the vicinity of $20k. Double that if they enclose reply paid envelopes. Then double that again if they do a second round of consultation.

Not exactly pocket change for a club in our financial position.

In light of that, I think email probably gives you the best hit rate for negligible cost. I don't think I am being too controversial in saying that there is very little excuse not to have an email address these days.

I wonder if they should've waited till AGM/EGM is over. If majority of lions supporters show up there, that meeting may be better placed to collect info on this kind of survey. If you net 70-80% survey results there, posting would be limited to the members who couldn't make it.

totally agree with you. I want a Guernsey that represents BOTH the Bears and Lions equally as a club. Would love to see a Bears heritage round once a year added as well, instead of just doing a Fitzroy round.

Yeah sure. That'd be great.

I want 11 home games in Melbourne, a social club/venue somewhere in the inner city of Melbourne, weekly training sessions at the MCG/Etihad or maybe even Brunswick Street or Princes Park, a club reserves side that plays half of its games in Melbourne and "Fitzroy" added to the Brisbane name on the scoreboard and ladder. Let's see.

"Brisbane-Fitzroy Bears-Lions" would just about do the trick.

Maybe if that name is too long we can do all the above, and just call the club the "Fitzroy Bears".

Wow.
Maybe you could point out which bits of his post really upset you, the equality in representation on the Guernsey or recognising the Bears as well as Fitzroy in a heritage round.o_O

Give it a rest Roylion please......all he said was he wanted a guernsey and heritage round that represented both clubs, which is fair enough.

We are now the Brisbane Lions...our colours are maroon, blue and gold, which reflects those clubs..

..majority of us want a jumper to show we are the Brisbane Lions, preferably with the fitzroy lion..

no more, no less..

Don't mind the Bears being recognised in a heritage round at all. They should be. Hopefully one of the old Brisbane Bears jumper will be worn for one game in 2014.

But come on. It's a bit rich asking for supposedly equal representation of the Bears in the current guernsey, given that the Bears' colours were maroon, gold and white. So when they re-branded, the Bears added some blue and the Fitzroy lion and structured the placement of the new jumper colours to look a little more Fitzroy and suddenly there's no Bears representation at all? Please.

Well OK. That's fine. If we want totally and utterly equal representation between the Bears and Fitzroy in all respects including the guernsey, I've set out the requirements above. After the jumper is re-designed to more adequately reflect the Bears, I expect "Fitzroy" to be added to the name that appears on the scoreboard and ladder and the addition of extra home games in Melbourne so that's it's equal with the number of home games in Brisbane. See my above post for the other measures that should be taken to equalise the representation.

So the premiership jumper worn between 1997 and 2009 doesn't represent both clubs? Is that what they're saying?

Maroon and gold of the Bears added with the blue of Fitzroy in roughly the dimensions of the Fitzroy jumper? That's not equal enough.

No. No that's not what he was saying. He was referring to a Guernsey on the previous page not the original Brisbane Lions Guernsey.
Maybe go back a page or 2 and read the thread.;)

This is about the jumper. I respect your heritage (our heritage) and I get your anger about your club folding but geez, no-one's asking for the Bears to emblazoned everywhere.

Yes, I know he was referring to a Fitzroy guernsey. My point is that the 2001-03 premiership jumper more than adequately reflects both clubs. Even a Fitzroy guernsey with a BFC logo instead of FFC, adequately reflects both clubs given the maroon and white were both worn by the Bears. Combine maroon and white or maroon and gold with the Fitzroy blue on any jumper and it reflects both clubs quite well.

That's my point. The Bears don't have to be emblazoned everywhere for the jumper to reflect both clubs. Just about any jumper with maroon, blue and gold or even maroon, blue and white reflects both clubs. My anger is and had always been over the use of the logo. I don't want the Lions to wear the FFC logo except on special occasions. That would make it obviously Fitzroy. The use of Fitzroy lion instead is a nice compromise given that we only have 5-6 games in Melbourne, the name Fitzroy doesn't appear on the scoreboard or ladder and so on.

Well that's better articulated and sensible than your first, second and third posts. Maybe you should have just said that in the first place.:thumbsu:

So I take it, you would agree with my original posts, that the Brisbane Bears have quite enough representation in the current jumper/s and that any further increase in Bears' representation, in any new design would be manifestly unfair to Fitzroy supporters. Especially given the other elements that are already skewed in favour of the Brisbane Bears identity, such as number of home games, location of home ground, etc. etc.

Except that your first post was in response to someone being critical of the Fitzroy heritage Guernsey. My preference has always been for the original style of the Brisbane Lions Guernsey. That one I believe is adequate representation including the simple BBFFC on the back, maroon blue and gold.
I don't subscribe to your inference that home games/ground are unfairly skewed, but no, I don't think we need further reference to the Bears than was originally presented in 1996/7.
The point is, that was never suggested.
