Barrass’s goodbye at the B&F makes me think the Eagles told him to find a new home.
Incorrect - it was Barrass who told the Club he wanted to leave to live in Victoria and that Hawthorn was his preferred choice of club - so the club said they would try and appease if the correct deal could be done as he was a required player. Apparently he was offered a slight increase in pay however it couldn’t meet with what Hawthorn were offering so here we are.

Agreed that’s the storey we’ve been told. Behind close doors who knows for sure unless you’re involved at that level inside the club.

We never get the inside side storey, which is why I tried to leave possibilities open.

Would like to see GC involved;
WCE F2 + Car F2 + Haw F2 to GC for F1 (Uwland).
Barass to Haw for Car F1 + GC F1
win win win
In that trade we are giving up what is effectively 14 plus a future 2 which we already turned down

But it’s a future first; if the reason they knocked back the offer is because they didn’t want to trade out of this draft, it could make sense.
Wait I might be reading the trade wrong so apologies if I am. Isn’t that the two picks we got for 14 plus our future second?

The trade has probably been done, but the AFL want to drag things out as long as they can. So they will not announce it until Wednesday.
Bingo/end thread.

It does my head in that people still don’t realise this even though the same thing happens every year.

You know Battle is shorter than Patrick Cripps, right?

He's going to struggle against the truly big forwards, which is why Hawks are chasing Barrass so hard
So hard 😂 but MM is the one that didn’t blink. Tell you which stat is more important than a players height …… the Hawks current back six. Throw in Battle Hawks are far from desperate!

Prefer to keep 3 firsts next year anyway to have a crack at Reid so he can play with his short mate!

You do realise he is contracted for another two years, yeah?

Reid won't be going to Hawthorn mate, especially if they dick Barrass about after making months of overtures to him, then balking at the asking price come trade week.

Nick Gieschen will be pissed.

You are a disgrace mate. So future picks are only valuable if the eagles have them is what I’m reading from that
No, but if thats all we have then its all Sydney can ask for. Warner will be OOC, Swans wont have an option to keep him like we do with Barrass

Too slow for half back.
Midfield or bust for him.
Think he will end up a solid second stringer.
Ginbey is not slow at all lmao. He has very similar running and athletic ability to Josh Weddle, they both tested very similarly at the combine pre-draft(Ginbey was slightly quicker in the 20m, Weddle slightly quicker in the 2km), both were in the top few.

You wouldnt call Weddle slow would you?

Barrass is a quality person and player but the point I am making is that Hawks are not desperate for him and don’t need to overpay for his services. Of course WC has the control factor as he’s contracted but the Hawks are also in a good position to consider other options that best suits the HFC.

I am talking about the "so called" push for Reid .

We will soon find out if Hawfs really want Tom, you know, for their upcoming GF win and all🤣
Would be funny if this deal falls through if the Hawks don't want to pay up to fix their biggest deficiency.

Strange move to trade out their 1st as gather West Coast are not chasing future picks.
