Almost certainly the case. Both parties have sounded pretty respectful in the media and not that far apart, no way the Hawks just blow up the main part of the trade. I highly doubt this hasn’t been discussed with West Coast.

In nearly every case, the trade still happens, even if last minute.

Hawthorn have traded their first for a first and a second of a team that finished lower than them.

The picks might end up being worse (if Carlton make the grand final) but very likely should be better.

If you believe A) That a rebuilding side like yours doesn't "need" picks and B) that Barrass can just find a different suitor with a week left in the trade period, you are extremely naive.
