We want to trade him for the right offer, we arent throwing him out there and taking whatever sticks
Of course you want the right offer, but Eagles supporters seem to think that just because he is contracted you are gonna get overcompensated for him! If he is as valuable to the Eagles as he is to the supporters in this thread then he would off been told NO when he asked to be traded!!

No? We have younger alternative options for our full back.
If the choice is play Harry Edwards and get in 13+f1 for our f2, vs keeping Barrass we choose the first one.
If it was play Edwards and get 13 alone vs keeping Barrass well then its far less attractive, we know hes worth more than that and there are clubs who would pay more.

My stance is id rather keep an unhappy player or send a player to the draft than get bent over at the trade table

So you don't think there's a lot between pick 8 & 14 in this draft?

For reference Jeremy Cameron got traded with picks 13,15,20 for 2 x 2nd rounders. Jezza was a year younger than TB is now and was a better footballer with very good durability.

If we're giving up 14 & F1 we'd need an early 2nd rounder in return
That’s the general consensus price among Eagles fans. We want the two first rounders to help the rebuild, know we have to give something back, but we don’t want it to be from this year because we’re light on for picks. So ideally it would be a F2, Hawks wary because any bump in form next year could see that pick start to lose value.

Pick 15 would have us making a prelim next year.. there's no way the footy club would be having that as our conservative finishing position to enter into a trade for our F1.. it's far more likely to land between Pick 10 and Pick 14, hence why we're not aligned to trading F1 alongside current pick 14..

The commentary on this draft has been about how deep and even it is from 10 onwards so I thought 19 & 22 was a valid option.
13 + a pick from 12-16, price it at 14 in this case, would have to be your clubs valuation, conservatively. You almost made a prelim, and are adding a year of development and Barrass+Battle to your backline.

If a club is offering 19+22 for pick 13 then clearly the consensus is NOT that its even from 10 onwards is it

The range from 8-14ish seems to be even, then the next group is a drop off, but its relatively even until the 20s
I don't agree with your valuation here, stallon.

The original 'agreed value' here was 13 + 30, which is equivalent to 1,841 points. The reason we want two firsts is because another first would be better for us than pick 30. To make that worthwhile for Hawthorn, we've generally agreed that it would cost us our future second. 19 + 22 is equivalent to 1,793 points, effectively the same as the original 'agreed value'.

That said, 19 + 22 would be taking the piss. 13 + 30 (now 14 + 32) is better for us. A top 10 pick would be better still. Given Hawthorn's hand, I would expect two firsts to be the price with other swaps to even things out.

Old mate was on about splitting 13, then giving us that for Barrass, essentially just offering pick 13.
We want 2 firsts because its better for us yes, but if it ended up being 13+30 then that'd be fine, the Hawks wont do that because they want a pick this year. The only way for the Hawks to hold onto a pick this year is to use their f1, because their f2 is not good enough.

You keep bringing up the pick points thing, they are not relevant and theyre so far off being correctly valued. Pick 20 is worth 912 points, would you trade pick 20 for picks 37 and 38 despite them being worth 948 points? no, nobody would.

Pick 19+22 is assumed to be equal value to pick 13 on its own, as thats the trade thats hypothetically going to occur first.

The problem for us with trading an F1 & 13 for an F2 & Barrass is there's double the risk.. 1) we don't finish top 6 and the F1 pick ends up ~10 2) Eagles improve from bottom 3 and the 2nd rounder ends up ~25-30

Agreed, there’s more risk for the Hawks. But Barrass is contracted and the Hawks hope adding him can push them over the top. Equally, Hawks could finish top two and the F1 is 17 and we could finish bottom two and our F2 is 20. It’s a calculated gamble.

Adds to the fun of next year, death riding other clubs ;)

You absolutely will if your list management team backs itself in. Reality is Tom is still contracted for 3 years, so you will have to pays overs.

In their heads your F1 for 23 will only look like a small downgrade as WCE will likely be bottom four & your club will have designs on top 4 next year.

Now, of course the Hawks could have a bit of a let down next year…but that’s the beauty of speculating & trading future picks isn’t it!

Barrass speech at your B&F could well indicate the eagles pushed him out the door.

Don’t pretend this move isn’t beneficial for both parties.

Pick 14 is hardly being bent over for a 28/29 year old. Drama queen!
