Plenty of ordinary players have won premiership medals, not many ordinary players have won MVPs, AAs and B&Fs.

Not many talls have stood up on the biggest stage and delivered though, as you would be so aware.

6 contested marks. 3 goals. What a performance. Worth every cent. Certainly a better deal than whatever you're paying Hannerbury.

Hannebery is back doing full training so he should be playing soon, still might work out to be a better deal than Boyd.

Yeah good luck with that.
If he gets you over the line in a prelim with a heroic effort, then is arguably BOG to most people in a GF win, I'll be happy to revisit.

A missed free kick against the Dogs has basically cost him his career.

And then for St Kilda of all clubs to waste $4m on him

Premierships are teams achievements, MVPs, All Australians and B&Fs are individual achievements.

Dogs wouldn't have won it without him. Simple as that.

And no, he wasn't umpiring that day - that was the job of 3 other Dogs fans :p

Hannebery is on the nose beers and is more banged up than a Bangkok ladyboy.

From an article published today.

The Dan Hannebery rebuild is nearing completion, with the star St Kilda recruit finally back to full AFL training.
In a long-overdue milestone for Hannebery, he took part in Thursday's session at Moorabbin.

Dan the Man:
- was unlucky not to get the Normie in 2012 with 29 disposals at 73% (15 contested), a goal, 5 tackles and 2 contested marks
- has played the same amount of games in 2019 as Boyd and 3 more last year
- is cheaper than Boyd
- is better than Boyd
- has much more potential than Boyd
- prefers to punch lines rather than team mates

Tick and tick.

Loving the saltiness in the thread, fantastic reading, thanks to tom boyd for being absolutely instrumental in breaking the 62 year hoodoo and bringing an afl flag to the west, hope he gets through his depression and life after footy works out ok for him, he'll always have doggies supporters to shout him a beer and will go down as a club legend and one of the greatest afl trades of all time.

If Nick Riewoldt had put in a performance in 2009 or 2010 that was anywhere near as good as Boyd's in 2016, then your club would have 2 flags, it's as simple as that.

Ordinary players do win flags, but when they also contribute in a meaningful way, it makes the criticism of them pretty redundant.

Have a year or two off son, it’ll be nice seeing you in the Navy Blue alongside Charlie, Harry, Mitch and JSOS!
Welcome home young man!👍

This x 1000000

Now he’s retired does the millions owing on his contact stay on the Dogs books as it has to with the Swans and Buddy or is this another vFL decision?

Like most retirements it doesn't stay on the Bulldogs books if a settlement is reached. Buddy only stays on Sydney's books because he was a restricted free agent and they acquired him by pricing Hawthorn out of the race, thus they have to honour the deal they put forward.

Sydney melts over this point have been great.

Now be fair, it was all Ross Lyon's fault that St Nick put in sub par performances in their Grand Finals (according to St Kilda fans over the years)

Swans fans not understanding the rules? I'm shocked to be sitting here. :drunk:
