I agree, end of first round should be the max compensation and everything lower scaled down accordingly. This is seriously becoming a joke.
When you have club supporters thrilled at the result of a wanted player leaving, the system is broken.
I would guess teams are pricing in the expected increases to the CBA and salary cap when making offers this offseason. Meanwhile the AFL hasn't updated their compensation mechanism to account for this, making it a very good seller's market for free agents.Pick 19!
Holy crap how much are Brisbane paying him?
Pick 19 for Doedee is a joke but it's got nothing on pick 3 for Mckay.
Based on contract given mostly. Doedee isnt on 4 mill over the life of his contract etcHow so? At full flight Doedee the far better player.
AFL have got that wrong I think.
Should be pick 20.
Lets wait and see.
Reported somewhere as 4 years @ $700KHow much is his contract ?
The man’s done an acl in each leg and played 80 games, I can’t understand how pick 19 is given here, I rate Doedee but this is crazy
It's just a trash system, we have seen time and time again that the current rules are awful and very rarely actually generate 'fair' compo. The man’s done an acl in each leg and played 80 games, I can’t understand how pick 19 is given here, I rate Doedee but this is crazy

Why is there compo at all. No other league does thisIt's just a trash system, we have seen time and time again that the current rules are awful and very rarely actually generate 'fair' compo.
NFL doesWhy is there compo at all. No other league does this
You're a FA or you're not. Restricted means you can match
The AFL is just a cowboy league that can't handle free agency
Didn't know that. Is there's as haphazard as ours is?NFL does
It's very much based on net ins and outs. And I think only goes as high as 3rd or 4th round?? Need an expert like AmericanCrow , Southerntakeover or Dirty BirdDidn't know that. Is there's as haphazard as ours is?
Probably end up like 2020 where there were 26 picks in the first round.
