this kid has really stepped up this year, really playing well for sturt league side...averaging around 25 possessions a game! should have a really good carnival...does anyone have any further thoughts on him and where will he stand in this years draft???

I spotted him at last years carnival and have followed him with interest since. He is a dead set Angus Monfries clone! I was hoping Essendon would get him in the draft but he is playing too good now and is touted a top 10 pick so I doubt we'll get him now.

Been following Tom for nearly three years now and has dominated at whatever level he has played. Two years ago was pretty much the best SA player in the Nat Under 16 carnival and has progressed right up from Sturt Under 17's to reserves and then this year league which he is dominating. Very smart player, the coach made a note that he has the calmest head of the whole side, which is saying something as there are many hardened veterans playing for Sturt, 3 Magarey medalists included. He is quick, and just has that knack of finding the footy, a classic leather poisoning type of player, already racked up 32 touches back to back a few rounds ago in league SANFL, well ahead of Bryce Gibbs in that department.

Last week, 8 kicks 16 handballs 2 goals and named in the best yet again. I would take him in a flash, much a query that he is your classic rover and many dont succeed but this bloke is good enough to succeed. Top 10 would not surprise me and he will probably be SA's best player at the carnival and make the All Australian side.

obviously the kid is a gun. no doubt. i only worry that he continues to get more possesions than most yet barely scrapes into the best. my feeling is that, as in last years 18's carnival, he gets lots of the ball but doesnt damage the opposition with it. if players like gibbs (who got 7 possesions a few weeks ago and was in the best) or any other good young midfielders got the same amount as hurley they prob would be far and away the best on ground. maybe sanfl opponents allow him to roam relatively free while stopping sheedy, squire, etc as he wont damage you as much. that is maybe why he continues to rack up possies. however most interstate coaches see his name with 20+ disposals in sanfl league and their ears prick up so he could very well got top 15

If he keeps playing the way he is atm he has a pretty good chance of going top 10-20. A team like port power who have to rebuild their midfield would benefit alot aswell as brisbane. The dons are up there aswell especially with the comparisons with monfries.

could even go to the crows but more likely power, demons, cats, tigers
