Tom Mitchell, recovering from a broken leg and now a Hawk until the end of 2023

I reckon a pick 15-20 plus if I was the hawks I would be asking for Coleman Jones as part of the deal, he will be the hottest property come end of the year.

Not sure if I'm a hawks fan I'd be happy that Mitchell says he only want to stay in Victoria, compromises what you get, compromises the comp, if he wants to be traded it should be he can end up anywhere, he's not an unrestricted agent, you can't have your cake and eat it too if your the player. He shouldn't be able to corner the hawks and say either Richmond or Geelong or I stay

Brishawk, I'll love Tom. He is an extractor who can dish out the ball to our creative mids like shai, Edwards and Martin. It would also share the load with cotchin and prestia but the price we would pay won't be even close to what you want.

I think being contracted gives him the right to say where he goes, if he ends up traded

Yeah that’s definitely something to keep in mind. Didn’t work for us, but that’s probably because we jettisoned off hodge, mitchell, Lewis plus birch being injured and roughie struggling to impact. While they have martin, grimes, lynch and a few others I think they’ll be in contention. All good preparing for the future but the likelihood of them being able to reload and win another once those guys finish up is fairly low
Salary cap considered of course but Richmond would surely back themselves to have more FA success than Hawthorn and also not have a talent on level of Cyril leave at 27.

I agree, but i wonder if you said the same thing re Lynch ;)

I understand that, but the AFL has to be only sport in the world, where a contracted player can choose his destination, I get the fact that if you should be able to choose if you are a free agent, but if you or the club want a trade, it should be to the clubs benefit, this ruins the integrity of the league, gold coast for example may give up pick 5 for Mitchell as example, yet they get pick 20 because he wants to go Richmond to win a flag

Interesting , I would be more suprised if he is playing for us than not next season .
Just a gut feel .

I reckon this has been leaked out to gauge some interest .
I reckon it might’ve been us that did the leaking. The article said that Mitchell wouldn’t be opposed to a move that was “mutually beneficial” to both player and club. I wouldn’t be surprised at all if Clarko has had a coffee Tom and had the convo to go see what’s out there and if we can get a fair return for you then we’ll revisit it.

Clarko is a stubborn man and why players love him but he is no fool, few errors were made but I can already see this playing out and not just one player

Is Mitchell the first Brownlow Medalist to share a surname with a previous winner? Not that it's at all relevant to his current form but the question popped into my head the other day and I couldn't think of another instance.
No, In 1929 Albert Collier won it and the following year Harry Collier won it.

The article calls out what we already know, and that is that Tom’s possessions don’t correlate to scoring chains.

The conclusion they’ve drawn though is that you remove him, so that you hopefully find someone else who can get better value for their possessions, rather than adding more to our midfield so that he can give it to someone who can punish the opposition.
This. He isn't the problem. It's like having a fine engine, but driving on bald flat tyres.

He guessed and like a clock is right at least twice a day.

Now all Tom Morris has done, is know the tigers are going to address our inside midfield need as we dont have the depth *yet to cover injury prone cotchin and prestia if both are out at the same time. So knowing that he has just connected the dots. From what I know, Mitchell has not even come up in Tigers discussions at all. It Mitchell decided he wanted to be traded, then yes we would have interest but even then it wont happen as we wont trade our first rounders for a player of his age that realistically can only be a short term fix. You dont waste round 1 picks on short term fixes. We would only offer that type of pic for Cerra for example.

Can you seriously think your club would trade Mitchell for a second rounder while also paying 60% of his salary due to how our cap is atm and the money we have put aside for the likes of Bolton, Chol, Balta etc ?

No way it happens
I love the proverbial 'we'... It almost sounds as if you believe you actually work in the RFC footy department. Aah bigfooty.... Never change

At Tom Mitchell’s age, sam Mitchell had won one premiership and playing in a team that had missed the finals the year before.
And? Tom Mitchell plays for a side that hasn’t won a finals game in 5 years, will finish bottom 4 for the second year in a row and has a dreadful list. Unlike the side Sam Mitchell was playing in, this one isn’t a group that underachieved for a short period while they partied too hard, with stars all over the place. It’s actually rubbish.

Wingard and Mitchell to the Tigers for the Tigers 2 first round picks and A second round pick.

A win Win, truly opens up your Premiership window and starts our rebuild.

Calm down or you will hurt yourself. We aren’t desperate to trade Tom.

Wingard would be far more appealing to the Tigers than Mitchell, would definately help them stay in premiership contention in 2022 and beyond

If news of Tom Mitchell trade is public then you can bank it as solid as this is the same time we were hearing he wanted out of sydney and his destination was us. it never waivered.

He is no match winner , but he can find the footy for first possession , its just that his role has diminished with us to the point he is forced to get it on the outside yet he is a poor ball user over 30 metres. Smells of Buddy sacrificial role 2013 as we navigate our next course of action and lessen the blow of him leaving.

What ever we get for him will be for nothing if we choose and develop poorly.
