Player Watch Tom Mitchell

I’m backing Titch in to find that pre bye form. He was essential to our great run early. He just needs to get hes hands on the ball at the stoppages but it’s not just him it’s JDG, Adams, Pendles and co. The thing is he gets found out if we are beaten in the clearance as he has no pace and outside game. But a firing Mitchell is definitely best 22 and a key cog to our premiership tilt.

I think we have been victim of playing a little bit bruise free the past month with the boys just doing there upmost not to be injured, unfortunately this has backfired a little.

I fully expect a Collingwood side to come out breathing fire on Friday night and then get this last 3 weeks back on track leading into finals.

Remember Magpies, we owe these **** from last year.

As seen by my earlier posts. I’m a fan of Tom, and how he goes about it on & off the field.

He was outstanding earlier in the year, he was kicking goals when resting forward, he showed his strengths and even developed new ones.

Without the ball, he was working hard, he was tackling hard and with great technique. He was able to put his body on the bottom of packs but the big thing was getting the ball from “in” to “out”. David Kings favourite term of a leg driver. That Tom is not, because he doesn’t have that level anymore. Atleast outside of the first 5 metres.

But that’s the key part. He was able to drive his legs for a few metres and then get his teammates in better positions with his creative and clean hands. He showed leadership and he’s always had good connection between older and younger cores.

Even kicking was improving, he was rushing less and finding easy short kicks where Collingwood would be able to run in waves.

Since that point, he’s been falling off. Seems as if he played less and less time in the middle. But also looked off, like he was battered. Hence the rest and small amount of game time. Aswell as being subbed off.

He seemed to of got a pretty bad corkie, which could be apart of it. He’s an ultra professional so he’d be trying his ass off, he is definitely not cooked. It’s about the club and him finding the best solution to whatever the issue is, whether it’s a full rest to attack finals or whatever it may be. I believe he and the club will make the right choice.

It probably helps that players don't like getting subbed off, so if Tom has volunteered himself as tribute to the substitution each week, it's not only helping him coast through this rough (sore?) patch but it keeps the moral of all teammates high as to not being subbed off.

Just hoping he comes good before finals and we're not just praying that the finals bye will be his saviour.

Titch is a professional. I believe that he, like a lot of the team, has gone through a massive training block and is fatigued from that. As the load lightens he will rise to the top again and provide the output that we recruited him for. Have faith.

Can't believe so many of your mob weren't keen on the idea for Mitchell.

He is exactly what you need. Just needs to shovel the ball to the Daicos boys 30 times a game and you're set.

Told yas x2 😉

He has been great. Many went a little sour on him, but was one of our best players today after Hill and even more crucial with no Adams, and DeGoey was sort of quiet outside of 2 huge goals.

One of our most important today.

He's been close to BOG in two grand finals now.

Built for the contested game.

Congrats to the Pies - the best team of the year, and on the big day.

Wrapped for Tom who has to be one of the recruits of the year - given away for practically nothing  .
Locked down on Neale ad Dunkley when required and tackled like a man possessed. His hands were clean all day and his handballs to players on the outside was brilliant - classic Tom Mitchell really.

And SSSSSS is spot on - that's two fantastic GF's now for Tom - incidentally, he had 13 tackles in 2016 as well!
