Top 10 foward most accurate kick for goal

This is just for genuine forwards not including midfielders or half backs.

In my opinion from set shots, currently:

1. Brendan Fevola
2. Jonathan Brown
3. Matthew Pavlich
4. Scott Lucas
5. Matthew Llyod
6. Nick Riewoldt
7. Brad Johnson
8. Lance Franklin
9. Jeff Farmer
10. Mark LeCras

Probably missed a couple but this is the list from the top of my head.

Had to slip a West Coast player in there didn't you..Poor Lynch, no longer the flavour of the month.

Otherwise not a bad list, Riewoldt while a top forward probably doesn't deserve a spot in the "Top 10 most Accurate" however.

from outside 50 fevola #1

When judging accuracy via goals/points ratio's the distance & angle to goal is a major factor, and also lately is the amount of games played in-doors at Telstra. All have effect on accuracy.

I'd suggest Fevola takes a larger proportion of set shots outside 50 than most other fwd's.

Stats hard to prove anything here, but as an opposition fan I hate to see Lloyd, Didak, Williams (Hawks), Davis (Syd) lining up for goal.

i would hate to be depending on either lucas or riewoldt to kick one after the siren to win a game
i don;t care what stats might say, i think lucas is a choker...
i'd have nick davis on that list, and before his 07 shocker, barry hall would have been close
also would worry about farmer doing anything under pressure
i don't personally rate him, but i know scott welsh is highly regarded as a finisher, and his stats in 07 back it up

lloyd 829 goals 381 (2.18)

welsh 49 goals 19 this year (2.58)
300 goals 153 for career (1.96)

brad fisher 93 goals 48 (1.94)

bradshaw 363 goals 188 (1.93)

fraser gehrig 540 goals 282 (1.91)

matthew richardson 742 goals 508 (1.46)

fevola 387 goals 269 (1.44)

jeff farmer 643 goals 460 (1.4)

just for a laugh
travis cloke 55 goals 67 (0.82)

Why is this thread here?

There is no debate.

For any player who played of a descent amount of games he has the best record

And for all the ones trying to defend the feral one, not only does he trail Lloyd in accuracy, he trails him in virtually every stat you can find, except maybe diving, may as well save you the trouble, of course the feral one wins the sooking stat by a very long way.

From my team, Alan Didak. You know he's not going to miss with a set shot from inside 50.
I would have said Lloyd but I just think he's lost that little bit of accuracy since the hammy went rip.

In the comp I would say it's a toss-up between Didak, Brett Ebert, and definitely from outside 50, Brendan Fevola.
For a clutch goal from a set shot, it was always James Hird.

whos the feral one?
he must dive a shitload to beat lloyd!

Ryan Murphy kicked 14 goals straight throught a number of games in 06, so he'd have to be a considertaion, though he didn't play much in 07. Before 07, his career showed 31 goals and 11 behinds.

I guess you haven't seen too many Freo games. I can recall 3 goals after the siren, or in the last few seconds of the game, where he has kicked a goal to win.

Just a quick summary of the players ratio of goals to points

Matthew Lloyd 2.18
Mark Williams 2.05
Jon Brown 1.80
Alan Didak 1.78
Mark Lecras 1.72
Jeff Farmer 1.69
Brad Johnson 1.58
Matthew Pavlich 1.57
Nick Reiwoldt 1.55
Scott Lucas 1.51
Lance Franklin 1.49
Brendan Fevola 1.44

You forgot a really obvious one - Darren Gaspar 2.30 ;)

Lance Franklin 125 84 1.488
Matthew Richardson 742 508 1.461
Brendan Fevola 387 269 1.439

Woah...Franklin isnt as good a set shot as Hawks fans like to think...he averages 0.27 more than Richo.
And...Richo isnt as bad as Carlton (or anyone else for that matter) think...he averages more goals than Fev.
Bet it wont stop blues bagging richo for bad kicking.

good on him....
he's a flake and i still would not want to be relying on him
and essendon fans get on my case coz i don't rate lucas for reliability under pressure either
big deal

Mark Williams followed by Brad Johnson, Brendan Fevola and Matthew Lloyd. How did Pavlich make this list? He can be as wayward as Matthew Richardson.
