I would take Jonathan Brown when fit over a fit Lance Franklin heading into the finals everyday of the f**king week and if you dislike that...then too damn bad bud!
Get over it and don't give me this Franklin is GOD shit because he ain't and I seen every final he has performed in as well and I guess we will have to wait to see just how well Brown performs now that he's fit and ready to go 2012 as it sounds like you have totally forgotten which is typical

You would be about the only person in Australia who thinks Brown is a better player than Franklin in finals. This conversation is done.
Hearts are broken in Grand Finals not in the regular season, think 89 and 08. I've been disappointed losing last years finals and a few home and away games by less than a kick but you get over it within a week but obviously 08 is going on 4 years now, time to move on.you Hawthorn supporters are so amazingly bitter toward Geelong players and their supporters is blatantly obvious

So the All Australian selectors are biased against Bartel? Bartel hasn't been named in the best 22 in the country since 2008. That's a long time for an "absolute superstar" not be recognised as a top 20 player in the comp eh. Bartel = overrated. Big time overrated.

1. Cyril Rioli - Media lovechild.
2. Jobe Watson - Talked up an elite 'A' Grader. No-where near that level.
3. Harry Taylor - Often gets exposed 1/1, i.e. GF & Scarlett/Lonergan have to take his slack.
4. Luke Hodge - Joel Bowden Mk. 2. An inferior captain & player to Mitchell.
5. Boomer Harvey - As big as a downhill skier as Brad Green.

People seem to forget the label overrated, it doesnt mean the player is bad it just means he is overrated, for example the best player in the league could be overrated by saying he is 10 times better than the second best player in the league

This is a shocking list. I agree with Rioli & Taylor, but Watson, Harvey & Hodge? It's pretty obvious whose second account you are, but I mean you can do better than "Joel Bowden Mk. 2. An inferior captain & player to Mitchell." When Hodge plays full seasons in the middle like in 2010, he is a top 5 player in the comp. I mean dude, you can do better that this, c'mon try again.

Bartel is the consummate footballer who puts the team first and does the job assigned to him each and every week. I don't think he gives a shit about stats and awards - he is about the GFC winning games and Flags and he can hold his head high in that regard. His talent means he can play anywhere - whether it's locking down Hayes for 3 quarters in the 09 GF or pushing forward to present and kick goals in the 11 GF. His versatility has been a huge part of our success since 07 , if you don't rate him - fine , but true football devotees will just laugh in your face.

I think if you picked a player in the AFL to play for you in a 'sudden death' final, you would favor Bartel over Hodge. 9/10 of neutrals would too.
You would be worried Hodge would have the fitness to last a game, wheras Bartel would have no such issue. Just look at the return Hawthorn/Geelong game in 2010.

As I stated on the polls board. Hodge was Hawthorns best on ground in both the Collingwood final & Geelong final this year. He was top 3 in the Sydney final for Hawthorn this year as well. Add to that his 2008 Norm Smith and his finals performances in 2008, and I can't think of a player who has stood up in big games more than Hodge recently. Each to their own though.

This is the most accurate list so far. Just replace Bartel or Jack Riewoldt with Lloyd and you have hit the nail on the head.
I'll spell it out for you slowly, you said you're looking forward to breaking our Hearts again in 2012 but you have never broken our hearts. I said hearts are only broken in Grand Finals which you have NEVER done to us in my life.

Brown & Gary Ablett Senior are both massively overrated footballers.
I didn't really pay much attention to him until 85', when he was already mid-20's, but boy, he's one of the very best I've seen from that point on. You either have hang ups or didn't see enough of the man play.
The best dragged their teams over the line in the big one he had plenty of opportunity and never prevailed.
