Not sure if this thread has already been done, feel free to merge or delete. But i saw one for forwards, and thought 'why not'.

In my opinion, on what has been shown and what i'd expect, the top 7 defenders, by total scores, would be

1. Goddard
2. C. Cornes
3. Hodge
4. Lockyer
5. Fisher
6.Bowden
7. Adcock/Waite/Gilbee

Please feel free to scrutinize.

Backs

Goddard
Bowden
Cornes
Lockyer
Fisher
Enright
Gilbert (Smokie)

I can't split the top 4. Bit of a gap between those 4 and the other 3.

amazed no one has included Carrazzo or Pburgoyne
very hard to slot them in but woulda thought on AVG they would be close.
Mine on AVG.

1. Cornes
2. Goddard
3. Bowden
4. Lockyer
5. Hodge
6. Burgoyne
7. Carazzo

Fisher and Mackie just outside.
Personally i have Cornes, Goddard and Lockyer as premium backs and need to bring in 2 for Hill and Raines and will be looking at Bowden when he bottoms out and one of Hodge/Carazzo/Burgoyne/Mackie/Fisher in order of preference (ill take Cheapest at time)

If its based on average you would be looking at no. 7 averaging 90 or thereabouts. Cornes, Bowden, Lockyer and Goddard will consistently get around abouts 100. Burgoyne has shown that he has what it takes to get 100+ in the early rnds consistenly however based on previous years performances he is oh so unreliable and inconsistent. Enright and Mackie score pretty similarly every week and i think the consistency is present here and we should see 80-100 for them most weeks however whether they can average 90 and sneek into the top 7 im not sure about. I can't rate Waite and i think Gilbert will trail off as St Kilda do throughout the season. Fisher has been playing pretty average but based on his history i expect him to regularly score 100's. He is averaging 85 but i think he strives when St Kilda are a bit flat which we havent truely seen this year. Bock and Mundy are consistent but for mine i don't think they will make it into the top 7 however they will be very servicable. Scotland also looks to be in the peter burgoyne category with a big potential but hasnt shown consistency however being a previous scotland owner myself when he was in the midfield he used to be a premium mid averaging 105 so there is no reason why he couldnt do that again. For my teams sake i hope that Cornes Goddard Fisher Enright and Drummond will be top 7 however i doubt Drummond will reach those heights based on the attention other teams give him.

Based on AVG, I'd go:

1. Goddard
2. Cornes
3. P Burgoyne
4. Bowden
5. Carrazzo
6. Lockyer
7. Hodge/Fisher (can't decide)

Which is annoying because I choose Fisher and Hodge at the start of the year. I expect Hodge to bring his avg up as hawks imrpove, but I dunno if Fisher will get his Avg over 85. :(

Im hoping carrazzo can drop nicely while he plays this HF role as a tagger and then revert back to his role across HB and onto wings picking up lots of cheap marks/kicks so i can pick him up.

What makes you think Carrazzo has a spot in the back half after shutting down Gilbee and Hodge...

Next 4 Games
Fremantle - Roger Hayden
Collingwood - Heath Shaw, Marty Clarke
Adelaide - McLeod
West Coast - Wirrpanda

Yep I think Carrazzo will be playing purely as a defensive forward from now on. He seems pretty good at it, plus with Scotland, Waite and Stevens running the ball out of the backline, he isnt needed down there.

Thought i would re-spark this discussion as im looking ro bring in my final back player this week or the next. My backline consists of

Cornes, Goddard, Adcock, Hodge, Houlihan, McPhee, Rance

Emg: Petrenko, Broughton

The bolded players are the ones im keeping at this stage and im looking to upgrade Rance

I have about 350000 to spend, who is the best option. So far i think its out of Fisher, Mackie, Gilbee, or even maybe Grimes. Its really hard to predict who will be up there by the end of the season, any thoughts would be appreciated.

Loud Eagle you probably only have 2 real premium backmen who will be top 7 there so if you were to keep all the other players you would have to aim to trade rance to the best defender you don't have. IMO based on averages so far and the possession style of game Richmond play that means Bowden is the target you should be aiming for.

I wouldnt go near Bowden. Chances are Wallace will get the flick in the next week or so. The directive from the board (and supporters!) will be to play the kids. Bowden could very easily find himself out of the Tigers 22, espescially if he continues to butcher the ball like he did on the weekend.

Goddard, Chad, Mundy, Adcock Houlihan, Raines, Hill (Suban, Rance)

Havent upgraded at all in my backs - been mainly looking at the forwards having brought in deledio and riewoldt. I am not sure who I will want in my final team, but am keeping an eye on:

Enright, Mackie, Hodge, Fisher, Lockyer, Shaw (yes indeed), Waite

These are the players I am looking to bring in if the price is right...

I thought I read somewhere yesterday (may have been on the Carlton board) that Carrazzo is going to be out for multiple weeks with a finger injury...
