D
I am not Marty McFly or Doctor Who, haven't got a time machine to use and travel back then.

Collingwood's cowardly and sneaky draft dodging manipulation (esp during the first world war) is on public record, Ron Barassi Jnr (whose father gave his life for our country) has had a lifelong hatred and determination to beat Collingwood no matter what, given to the Pies infamous draft/national service dodging/disregarding)

We had no business in WW1 or Vietnam. And were criminals in Iraq. Only WW2 was clear cut.

Who's this Merret?

Anyway looking forward to a corker. Bout time Essendon were good again, hope we can both field decent sides and put on a cracking show.

My tip is Draper and Bobby Hill to shoot it out, both scoring at will.

No matter how hard you try you can't make me care about Essendon
Too many flags? ;)

I take them seriously. They are the only mob aside from us who fronts up decade after decade. They win lots of finals and lose lots.

Other clubs have legendary wins over the Bombers in finals because (like us) they're always there: to win you have to beat the Bombers (or Pies). What's weird is the Pies and Dons have met so rarely.

In the last 15 odd years Geelong and Hawthorn have been those "finals fixtures" clubs, and in the last 7 Richmond too. Most of the epic finals include Hawks and Cats and Tiges (yes and us, 2011 was epic STFU OK? But we havent been a fixture).

Bombers have a century of that. Carlton, Richmond, Melbourne, all had dominant decades here and there, but Essendon have few down decades: success is the norm. Maybe they are getting back to normal?

They've been a joke for nearly half of my lifetime. I was barely out of high school last time they were respectable and I'm almost 40!

While I respect history I didn't live through most of it, I did however live through their last 2 decades.

Also half my family support them for some reason and I remember how intolerable they were when they were good. The last 15 years have been so satisfying giving it back to them ten fold. Talking footy with them pretty much is like a bay thread lol.

Plus they'll always have the drug cheat stench following them around so its not just on field.

They didn't play finals in the 1970s either
