wat about josh smith?

I don't see Smith getting a game ahead of Laird and Brown plus they'll have Doedee step in next year as well. Do you think they'd accept a fringe player + pick for him?

The one I could see them having an interest in who would have value is Phillips, but he's just re-signed and the club like him so he isn't available. Unfortunately when you're mediocre none of your fringe players will be all that appealing to a GF outfit. We'll get there it just won't be this trade period.

I did mind that Allen did not like our list last year, mainly cause every one new what he thought. We have some fringe players who need to be gone, just cannot see anyone really interested in them when they know that this or next year they are gone for free.
Two much was known, from outside our club

You know who'd be appealing after losing Lever is Langdon. That would be a great like for like replacement for them. They'd replace much of Levers output but bank two first round picks. It'd be a classic moneyball move. If they could get Langdon cheap. I'd want to gouge them for whatever they're worth. Probably picks though.

Pretty sure nath would never let this happen.

My dream trade would be Langdon + Smith for a player (i don't care who).

Langdon is actually not that bad but we have too many intercepters and his habit of taking an eternity to make a decision, kick and the turn the thing over drives me crazy. In fact there's a legitimate argument that he's better than scharenberg (I'm not sure if i subscribe to it though).

Imagine if we were into lever as reported though. that would give us him, scharenberg, howe, reid and langdon all spoiling each other in the backline. would be terrible.

Won't be happy with us downgrading pick 6, even if it's for 9.

If there's a potential gun at 6, take him, regardless of position. Coffield, for example, looks like he'd fill a real need. Do not risk losing a potentially elite player just to chase a tall in the draft. They are inherently risky and in this draft in particular, underwhelming.

We can draft for need later in the draft. Possibly even trading to bring in an early second rounder, you don't compromise a top 10 pick for need. The only valid reason to downgrade pick 6 is if we see almost no difference between 6 and wherever we downgrade to, not on need but on quality. I'd strongly doubt this.
Drafting the best available player has left us with the worst spine in the comp we need to take the best KPP

Actually letting go of Brown for free and losing Marsh has.

Unfortunately that isn’t necessarily the case. There are a lot of people who are not comfortable sharing because of the crap they cop. The fact is real mail may not lead to anything because the future is not certain, until it is signed on the dotted line it is not guaranteed. I’ve booked to go to a Rugby League World Cup match in a couple of weeks, but until I actually get to the ground on game night it isn’t guaranteed that I’ll get there because life happens and the best laid plans can always get blown up by that unexpected occurrence or issue.

To me part of the fun of the is the rumour or the posted mail and speculating from that how it will all play out. But posters are being driven away because when they come on here and say that they have mail, or they will be talking to someone regarding some possible mail they are getting ridiculed to the point where they are not comfortable posting whether it be just their mail, or sometimes at all, and too me that is not okay.
People need to relax it's a forum, if someone gloating because you have got something wrong on a footy forum gets to you drink a cup on concrete

Brown & Marsh wouldn't do much to improve our current spine, only make it go backwards. Which further highlights our ranking as opossibly the worst player development / management team in the league. How many clubs have seen so many recent / premiership players turn to shizen... on top of our list of young players with potential failing to progress.

Past players that have gone backwards in the past 5 years:

Cloke, Dawes, Brown, Reid, Lumumba, Thomas, Blair, Keeffe, Macaffer, Williams...

Young players that have not progressed:

Broomhead, Aish, Scharenberg, Sinclair, Ramsey, Thomas, Sier, Schade...

FFS, Collingwood 2010,11 was like many "system based" premiership teams. A few genuine stars but a lot of otherwise good players made to look far better than they were due to the ascendant system.

We have been a middle-of-the-road team for 4 years. If you really need to "rank" us beyond going off actual performance then that at least should be your starting point

Lets be honest ladies and gents... would it be a trade period without Oxley being offered in an unrealistic trace scenario? :D

Oxley , Mayne and Next years second round pick for one of Gold Coasts 2nds this year.

Mayne should dominate the weaker NEAFL

He better never return, Has no idea or really really dislikes us.
Ed wanted him back but that has well and truly been scuttled by the board. Thank the lord for Murphy and the review!
