Ugh, can players stop requesting trades to Melbourne?

I like the Dees, and don't begrudge them any success, but it just prompts moronic 'destination club' comments from our own fickle supporters

I'm hoping the dogs to pick up some really good player out of absolutely nowhere and this whole board going insane for 30 pages saying things like 'how the **** did we manage that!?!?' and those people go and slink back whatever cave that they crawled out of

So you don't want to go the Draft Strategy way?

Happy to do the drafting but we need to bring a mature body KPP in this trade period doesn't have to be a star but someone to compete and make us structure up better, no way do i want to give up our first pick or all our seconds but we may need to give up at least one second rounder to get a KPP into the club, Having no KPF atm is very worrying

Has Roughy shrunk or Jakey got massive? He looks huge. His massive head does make him look shorter than he is - until he destroys you.
If jake has grown/will grow to 195 odd cm that will be massive for the club, there's our genuine gun KPF we've been looking for. Not that unrealistic for a 19 year old to put on a few more cm too

Would be a good outcome if we could do the following

Carlton get: Jones and Tutt
Melbourne get: Garlett and Pick 6
Dogs get: Pick 3

Agree. Just wonder whether Melbourne needs a third-round pick from the Blues thrown in as well?

Everyone gets what they want here?

Pies
IN: Greenwood, P6
OUT: Beams

Dogs
IN: Merret, P4
OUT: Cooney, P6, P27

Lions
IN: Beams, P42
OUT: Merret, Patfull, P5

GWS
IN: Patfull, P5
OUT: P4, P42

NORTH
IN: Cooney, P27
OUT: Greenwood
Decent effort but it's just too complicated to get done.
I reckon Collingwood would ask for more & GWS will be upgrading rather than downgrading.

Chuck in Blues pick 42 to melbourne IMO

Agree
Dees get: Garlett picks 6 and blues thrid rounder or ours
Carlton get: Jones and Tutt
Dogs get: Pick 3 and down grade our third to the blues

I think Melbourne bringing in Lamumba and Garlett shows that they are on a somewhat compromised list management strategy when compared to ours of 12-24 months ago.

That compromise is clearly to take on risks to become more competitive in the short term, even if those risks are counter to the long term goal of building a premiership side. Some of these moves seem like a way of placating their suffering supporter base. I understand their need to do it, but I'm glad we haven't gone down the same path.

I think he is worth a ten pick upgrade...but that's me. Others will disagree.
Yeah I can't see anyone wanting him that badly. Essendon might have last year but they have too many pensioners on their list now to sacrifice youth for that little finals push.

I would love to be wrong.

In theory Jones and Tutt are enough currency for the three pick upgrade but... Carlton need to give more to Melbourne. Robinson perhaps, or a pick to capture Lumumba (which Collingwood could on trade as part of the Greenwood deal).

Short term pain - long term gain.

Unfortunately Melbourne's short term has been very long term.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

And...Essendon might want every possible AFL standard player they can get their hands on for at least the start of next season (if not for longer.)

Surely Essendon will be trying to turn their list over within reason to minimise the potential impact of player suspensions.

Except that no-one actually wants to trade with Essendon for some reason.... Sometimes you have to, but no one actually wants to.....

It's interesting, because (if true) they have gone down this path before - with Byrnes and Pederson etc.... Be interesting to see if they get improvements this time...

I agree. Which is exactly why the Cooney for an upgrade deal might appeal to them.
