We would miss out on carlisle then ?
Conditional first round picks/swap of picks (ie this years' first round pick, and a swap of firsts next year should we finish lower, and then our first from the year after that, should our first pick in two year's time not be in the top 10, things like that)

Can't trade first round picks in consecutive years. NBA rule. Simple
Wouldn't mind if this rule was slightly different. Say that you can trade your first round pick in consecutive years, but as a downgrade. You have to have at least two picks within the next round of 18 picks, until your standard second round pick. So it allows you downgrade your first for another team's second, if that other team's second is before yours.

Would allow for trade scenarios like "We'll trade you this year's first, and next year's first, for whenever your next pick after our first is". Could have worked for Ryder or whatever last year.

GWS are miles ahead of GC, GC does not have the quantity or quality of senior players that GWS has, they have Ablett and Rischitelli then no one else except a stack of 21-23 year olds that came from the 2010 draft then they put all their eggs in the mini draft basket in 2012/13 and got O'Meara and Martin. Harbrow was better at the Dogs and Broughton and Stanley are meh. Malceski was a luxury signing in an area of the ground they were competent in already.

GWS poached the right free agents even if Palmer and Scully aren't worth the money they are on, Palmer is developing into a solid goal kicking defensive forward and Ward and Davis have been great signings for them. They have more assets than GC and when one of them leaves (has to happen over time to cut down to normal AFL list size) they replace them and have spread out the list age accordingly through draft and trade.
Yup agree, hard nut inside mids that win there own ball> flashy outside skilled types. GWS are hard, GC are not. smart recruiting.

Has this Carlisle rumour got any real substance ? Or is it a figment of someone's imagination ?
check back a few papers
Fronk (whos a good source) has stated whats going on

We are missing from last years best 22:
Libba, griffin, cooney, Minson, Higgins, 'Austin', Morris, Gia, Wallis,
That is the entire ruck rover division, CHB, HBF, BP, leading goal kicker and brownlow boy
Time to have a look at the rest of the list!

WHE for first round pick.
Henderson for second round pick.
Rance as FA.
That is almost the same and more achievable.

More achievable than WHE, Carlisle and Henderson. Yes.

In the same sense that Carlton wining one flag this year, is more achievable than them winning flags back to back....

Henderson is unlikely to go anywhere, and most certainly not for a 2nd round pick. WHE is worth maybe a 1st round pick, but would GWS do us any favours with the Saints and Dees queuing up as well? According to reports Rance either retires or plays at Richmond.

Carlisle not interested nope not at all ;) on a serious note essendon could do without him playing him all over the shop

So did Tom Boyd, to be fair.
Yeah but Gws wanted a star player
In Griffen , Gold Coast will only get a pick and will have to start again they would have wasted a year on wright going to get an unknown
