Yep I think it's pretty narrow minded when people get upset/angry when someone suggests a trade for "player x".

My belief is that there is only 2 players on our list that are absolutely off the table in terms of a trade. If I'm a list manager I'd be listening (not necessarily pulling the trigger though) to the terms of a trade for nearly every other single player on our list, if it was of good/better value to us than it was to our trading partner

List managers just can't have the same attitudes that we have towards our favourite players. I applaud the attitude of those on this board who look at through a list management point of view.

In terms of the "trading out fringe player argument" I am heavily pro trading especially if we get a great deal. I back Dal and JMac 99 times out of 100 to bring in better talent who also will fit the team ethos/systems.

Just because people express they wouldn't trade someone, it doesn't mean they are angry or upset. I think it's very narrow minded to think so.
Apparently you also aren't allowed to think making sweeping definitive judgements at this time of year is silly without being told you're angry or upset. Somehow asking people to be a little more conservative is a crime now.

You are right mate and it's best not to get into name calling by/of people with either view.

But then I do regularly see posts here calling for no discussion of trading players, their worth or even if other clubs would be interested in certain players. It's a list management discussion thread and meant to be a bit of fun for those interested in such discussion.

In a list management thread, I don't accept that any such discussion should be off limits or constrained to a time frame deemed acceptable by some.

A yes or no on who you guys think will be chased by other clubs?

1) hrovat- Yes, already has and probably will be again. Would be worth chasing.
2) Roberts- Yes. Handy tall young KPD. A bit of potential to develop into something pretty good.
3) honeychurch - I doubt it.
4) Webb (has he extended?) - Absolutely. Gun.
5) Jong- Yep. Gun.
6) campbell - **** yes. Gun.
7) Prudden - Doubtful

A Graders

Saints: Steven, Armitage, Billings.
Dogs: Bontempelli, Liberatore, Macrae.

B Graders

Saints: Ross, Dunstan, Weller, Newnes.
Dogs: Stevens, Wallis, Hunter. (Won't include anyone else as I haven't seen enough of them to judge)

We better target mids this year, fellas.

Don't disagree, but which two?

Wouldn't necessarily say he's wrong, but in that scenario our B graders absolutely destroy their B graders. Also Dahl plays mostly mid and if he's not an A grader than he'd be the absolute best of the B graders.

I'm confused. Are they just talking mids? If so how is Billings in there? Hell how is Billings considered an A grader at all?

If Billings is a mid then Dahlhaus definitely is

Since the guy admitted he hasn't watched enough of our games to name them, how about I do:
A Grade:
Bontempelli, liberatore, Dahlhaus, MacRae
B Grade:
Picken, Wallis, Stevens, Hunter
4v3 in each category. Both teams have more players that are yet to play enough to confirm status. CD & MacLean to join once they have played a full season.
I suspect there will be another ambush style result.... Are they going to fight for longer than Freo?

He kicked four junk time goals against us when we had 1 fit player on the bench and had watched a team mate do his knee fof the 3rd time. S T A R! (And don't let me hear anyone say otherwise)

In what universe is Billings currently an A grade midfielder? In my view its 4 - 2 in favour of the dogs (Bont, Liberatore, Dahlhaus (who is an actual mid unlike Billings) Macrae vs Steven and Armitage.

Billings is in the Stevie J mould as a half forward who can chip in the midfield. It looked as though that was Dahlhaus' role but he's more an inside mid these days.

I know the saints fans are going to read this anyway but the midfield battle isn't even close.
