I think Stringer will go to North. And be King of North. I’ve been having visions like that One-Eyed raven in Game of Thrones. I can clearly see Stringer in a blue & white striped guernsey with the ball tucked under one arm in front of a sparsely populated stand.

The trade works well for both parties.

In terms of Stringer saying he won’t come back, it’s very possible but doubt the agent allows it.

If he sits out for a year he is unlikely to get any big offers from 2019 onwards.

Best thing he could do for himself is play and play well to bump up his price

Imagine how fat and lazy he will become in a year off from footy

That's a godawful deal. Why does it seem like every time I come on here someone is willing to accept less? Soon someone will say they'd take a 3rd round pick swap.

More trying to be realistic than anything. I just don't feel his value is going to be there by trade and the bluff that we will take him back next year will be called, we won't want him back after everything that's happened I think. Maybe I rate Stanley higher than most, we are going to end up with a mid teens pick most likely for Stringer, and a few picks drop to 21 plus a guy like Stanley isn't great, but I don't think it's awful.

I'd love to be proven wrong and we get a top 10 pick for him, I just get less hopeful by the day that's what we will be able to get.

I wouldn't rely on that anyway, if you listen to Stringer speak he is not the most mature person going around and could well say something in the heat of the moment and then change his mind.
No doubt his ego is hurting and so it should but I am sure if Bevo held out an olive branch it would all change. Not suggesting that Bevo should only that its a possibility still.

Let's just shut the joint down ffs.
Stanley ? Seriously ? And a mid teen pick for someone I compared to the great EJ .
We do that and I am done from buying membership anymore .

Tomlinson. All things equal, without question. When you add in the trade cost v free agent it gets a bit closer

Trengove is a free agent so costs less, but if i were to be
honest i would say neither. What does getting Trengove
say to Collins and Roberts not to mention Roughead ?

Absolutely Trengove without a doubt. One is free (likely) and the other would cost substantial trade assets. Trengove can handle the monsters and the other handles players that we already can handle.

Thanks guys. I would have said Tomlinson was better suited to a N Reiwoldt type, while Trengove more suited to a Hawkins type, so makes it interesting to see what happens. Perhaps Saints feel they have Carlisle for the big boys, but need someone more mobile ??

Yep 21 and Stanley is shocking
but comparing Stringer to EJ is just a shocking

Just for your info.
I made the point a year or so ago , he had that dynamic ability that reminded me of EJ at his peak.
Didn't say he was as good , but you know what he might just end up another sensational footballer we shunt out the door.

Fair enough you don't like the trade, we will see what kind of value he has after everything that has happened. But I support the club in wanting to move a guy on who hasn't dedicated himself to training, rehab etc like he should have been and has caused a rift in the playing group with his actions. Everyone makes mistakes yes, but Beveridge has felt the need to clear Stringer out because of these issues (and likely more we don't know about) and I am 100% backing this man in and the club to trust they are doing to the right thing. Now if his value isn't as high as we all hope it might be and we don't get the trade return you want, you are giving up on the club and done buying a membership? After the year they just gave us in 2016 and one of the best memories of our lives? Great loyalty there, way to stay so committed...

Its all good we all see players in certain ways. I see Jake as a player with a heap of talent but too often goes missing in games and too often looks for the ball out the back who frustrated the crap out of me as I know the talent he possesses yet only showed glimpses of that brilliance

I tend to think of Trengove as a taller Dale Morris, when he could
still get a game for Port Adelaide a few years back Alipate Carlile
took the monsters like Hawkins before he retired. Tomlinson is
definitely more mobile, but would likely cost a bit. Trengove is
reputed to be a quality person and fits us with his age profile.

I hope you've got a boatload of Bex ready for us all when he's actually traded!

Purely hypothetical here. What if Bont has said 'either Jake goes or I do'.

Are we still burning the ****ing joint down when Stringer is traded ? Seriously ? We know SFA of the real situation here and what is going on the background. Let's try to wait patiently and see what happens and what comes out of the next few weeks.

Here endeth the rant about the ranting...
