I stand by what I’ve said, but it’s not my problem if he can take credit but can’t take criticism from what he says.

Considering I’d be very surprised if I’ve ever done anything to be blocked, that’s just an extreme overreaction in my opinion. Others are saying the same thing, not doubting what info he got but somewhere on the line it’s gone amiss. Not even acknowledging that maybe he was slightly off, like I said that’s on him.

It’s done as far as I’m concerned, bigger things to be worried about :)

Me? Can’t lose what you probably never had lol
No not you

Evidently some people need to stop taking this forum so seriously. So many people get overly defensive when others doubt their sourceless "mail" as if we are supposed to blindly believe you, while others are just as guilty of being outright abusive towards anyone they don't believe.

Think everyone just needs to relax and realise this is supposed to be a forum for discussion of an interest we all share. We are individuals who are going to have varying opinions on all things Bulldogs, there's no need to start being a keyboard warrior every 5 minutes.

Wallis would eventually be a good Selwood replacement. Eagles won't give up a gun once Kelly nominates them and we could get WC #1 pick to play with. Obviously have to be steak knives involved but could be worth a look.

Cats get Wallis and ???
Dogs get WC #1
Eagles get Kelly

That pick would be handy to trade for Keath and Jenkins, Martin, Hill type of players who upgrade our best 22.

I used to love this site.
Now not so much, i have to constantly sift through pages or rambling and bs to find anything slightly relating to the thread.
Its a shame we cant just get along and talk about the club we all love so much and stick to the thread titles anymore.
Anyway..

Who are everyones top 3 realistic trade targets?
Mine are:
Jack Martin
Brad Hill
Eddie Betts
And not nesacerily in that order.

Just one of these and I'd be over the moon.
IMO Jamarra will need guidance from an older fellow indigenous brother if we want him to stay at the dogs long term. We could end up being a club that indigenous players want to come to if we can get the right ones in this trade/draft period.

One thing we Dogs fans seem to forget - it's lots of fun thinking about which players of other clubs (either out of contract or in contract) we should target and prise out (and I assume our club is hard at work at this).

But other clubs are doing this too - so which Dogs players may be targets of other clubs?

Pleased to see you've listed three indigenous players.

I really have no idea who we will try to bring into the club this trade period. Certainly a lot of names have come up here and I'm generally happy just to take note and follow the drift of the debate.

One point that has faded a little from our discussions recently is the statement made by Peter Gordon at the mid-year Q&A on the subject of indigenous players, i.e. that we aim to be a place where indigenous players thrive and will be happy to play. IIRC there was some talk of getting some indigenous players in to help "start something exciting" or words to that effect - it implies a mentoring role as much as anything. This would align with having Brett Goodes still at the club as well as the commencement of Belinda Duarte's term on the board.

It will also sit well with the likely arrival over the next year or two of of Jamarra Ugle-Hagan and perhaps Cooper Craig-Peters and Cody Raak, all as NGA prospects. Most of it is covered here:

So I'd be very surprised if we don't go hard for one or two of the better established and respected indigenous players out there. I'm not sure Eddie Betts has much of a playing future whichever club he's at - he will be 33 later this year and I doubt we'd want to pick up a player for just one season.

However players like Jack Martin, Tippa, Brad Hill, Stephen Hill and Paddy Ryder could be a chance, although the last two are also getting on a bit. There may well be others out there. Or perhaps someone from left field like Cyril Rioli who is still only 30 (that Bevo-Hawks connection again). Who has the best leadership qualities among those players ... the Hill brothers?

The value of acquiring such a player - or better still, two of them - will go well beyond whatever they can contribute on the field.

Given the TPP war chest we've got, if we don't snare at least one, I'd call it a strategic fail.

Almost certainly McLean, but we’ve done pretty well to lock away the majority of our youngsters. I know contracts doesn’t mean other clubs wouldn’t target certain players though, but I feel he’s one we could let go if it meant we filled a gap on our list.

Gunston & Smith for McLean & one of our thirds would be logical for both clubs, for example (not saying they would take it or we would do it, but I feel it’s reasonable)

This thread is for fantasizing about things that won't happen. What kind of masochist would you have to be to want to fantasize about our players leaving??? I mean if that's what gets you off I guess I shouldn't judge.

All links point to Hill to the Saints.

The obvious one is Bailey Williams. In and out of the team. There are others like Gowers but they don’t really hold much value.

Yeah I've brought this up a bit recently. Clubs are going to come for the likes of Wallis, Dale, Libba, Williams, McLean and Macrae just as example, plus don't be surprised if someone like Schache is targeted

Will never happen, but would love to see Adam Goodes get involved at our club. We already have the link with Brett, and with the release documentary release, it'd be nice to think the matter is heading towards being resolved, rather than keeping Adam out of the sport entirely.

He'd be a fantastic mentor for young indigenous guys, and is one of the greatest utilities of all time so would have a wealth of knowledge to impart

Also with Langdon basically confirmed as gone, and Hill looking likely to be out, I'd be genuinely shocked if Freo didn't have a crack at JJ. They've been interested for years, his family lives in Perth, and accepting what could essentially be a contract extension with Freo could mean earning big money into his 30s (current contract ends at 29 I think)

Happily settled in Melbourne, loves the lifestyle. Why would he want to leave? And plenty of players manage with families in other states (not all obviously).

Not saying he'd leave at all, just that Freo would have a crack. I know this link is tenuous at best, but his aunty and my aunty work together, and my aunty was telling me that his family have been joking about him moving back to WA ever since he was drafted, but he's been insistent on staying in Victoria because he loves it at the Dogs.

Just won't surprise me if Freo at least try and entice him, but I seriously doubt their chances

Jack Martin, by all reports a brilliant off field influence and a leader. Would be an excellent mentor for 'Marra and for mine is a classic 'buy low' type player as he's playing at a level nowhere near his capacity/potential (playing with an injury that probably should see him out for the year right now). Would instantly be our most naturally talented forward/wing, save for Naughton's contested marking.

He and one of Keath or Hamling would make for a very good trade period for mine.
Keath - said in July he wanted to stay but we can offer more than the Crows and media reports he's close with Ameet Bains
Hamling - if he's even remotely gettable we should be chasing hard.

I don't think Tippa is worth $650k as reported but we have ridiculous cap space so a unique set of circumstances, plus we're pushing Essendon's cap out of whack.

Excuse my ignorance but who is Marra?

Would be ecstatic to grab both Martin and Hamling. Easy to forget that Joel is indigenous too, which helps achieve our goal of making the club a more attractive destination for indigenous players

As others have said, whether they have a crack or not is irrelevant. He has a pregnant partner who is from Melbourne and she isn't going to leave the support of her family during this period.

Jamarra Ugle-Hagen.
I'm going real early on his bandwagon and will head to prison for arson after burning down AFL House if the NGA rules are changed ahead of the 2020 draft.

195cm KPF who is a freak. Our 2020 NGA/FS crop at this stage is one top 5 talent (JUH) and two late first rounders. It's incredible.

Having priority access to so much elite young talent in 2020, makes the case even stronger for trading our first rounder this year for mature talent.

I’d table it for martin (with a little something coming back our way) or hill (he’s worth more than our first IMO) without hesitation.

Isaac smith and Keath won’t require our first.

I'm on board with that, with the proviso being Martin isn't worth our first straight out. That gives us the opportunity to be creative.

Right now West Coast have 16 & 22, GWS 12 & 13, Brisbane have 14 and 19. We could try an sell pick 9 with another pick to one of them to obtain two later first rounders of which one should get Martin done.

Having three 3rd rounders this year means we have a bit of leverage to get creative as well.
